first attempt and second attempt
ScorpionFire
Look good for first ones tor, you do need to work on text and text placement a little. There are some tuts you can follow that should help. All and All, A-OK.
CaptCrunch
looks good, you'll be a pro in no time.
maxsys
Nice work Tor, just try not to stretch the images too much, other than that great first (and second) attempt
tor-angel

any suggestions for when i'm cutting and pasting something how to get the background colour the same?
ScorpionFire
Don't cut the background with it tor, just cut the image. I use the quick selection tool a lot. and then fine tune. The pen tool can also be used.
I've used that image, this is what it looked like.

RequiemValorum
Great work tor, As Maxsys said just be a little careful with the aspect ratio of your pics, You don't want to stretch them too much.

ScorpionFire, Great work as always yes.gif
tor-angel
cheers scorp but i don't have a steady hand with a mouse lol which is why i cut the background with it, which ones the quick selection and does it just select only the image? thanks requiemvalorum for the comment yeah i need to keep an eye on the stretch. anyway 4 attempt at my own :)

sorry me again, just to let everyone know i found the quick selection tool, i have a feeling my designs are gonna be better not not like jigsaws biggrin.gif

Excellent pics there tor yes.gif I like the one with the moon and the stars very nice yes.gif

Just a heads up, Your pics are oversized for the forum.
The rules say pics no bigger than 640x480. You might want to re-size them before a mod removes them secret.gif
RequiemValorum
My apologies for the double post. blush2.gif doh.gif whoknows.gif

ScorpionFire

tor-angel
hey folks heres todays one :)

is the chains a bit tacky? let me know what you think

ScorpionFire
Not bad tor, but the chains are bit tacky, at least lose the big one, a little rough around the edges. You also need to go a little deeper into Photoshop, but that will come with time keep up the work. It only gets better.
tor-angel
yeah i thought the chain was a bit tacky but i put it in anyway, yeah it ended up selecting other stuff so i ended up rubbing them of then i smudged them to cover it up lol
tor-angel
just messing around today :) also my new sig was design about 10 minutes ago

You're coming along very well Tor-Angel.

I'm looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Your first sig for someone you must be proud, nice work

OnTimeTechGuy
I can say that it's far better than anything I could ever do. I can do some photo manipulation here and there, but don't know the first thing about making sigs.
crazyfroggy
Got a few going there now then tor-angel.All of them look nice to me,but as pointed earlier you must remember not to stretch the pic too much(press shift while resizing). Its a thing that we all do initally though so its nothing major. grin.gif
Good Work, looking forward to seeing more drinks.gif
tor-angel

You will enjoy animating things mate. Its a real buzz being able to make something move that was one a normal phot or something,
Looking good anyways. It doesnt come overnight but youve made a nice start ta :D
ALI3N
Great Work Tor, remember we all started as novices, i will have to dig in my portfolio folder for some of my first work i ever did, you will see your as good as i was if not better when i started out, keep delving into Photoshop, there is so much you can do, I remember doing my first creations in MS paint, looked like a bomb had gone off in a paint factory...lmao, not pretty. but with the amount of great packages like PS, the only limits you will have are your imagination, so let the creative juices flow and the masterpiece's will appear, if you ever need a hand with anything give me a shout, and i will do my best to point you in the right direction.

Regards

ALi
tor-angel
cheers UJ and Ali... yeah i'll get into animation in a couple of days, my little boys ill so my attention is 90% on him and 10% on here lol but yeah if i need help i'll yell my lungs out biggrin.gif
tor-angel
heres another one folks its animating in photoshop but i'm not sure i've saved it correctly

obviously i haven't as it isn't animating, what file type do i save it in?
faerie
Your signatures are a bit stretched and only seem to be crops of the original image with text added.
Perhaps you could post the original image so that we can more easily compare the 2. drinks.gif

Animating is quite an in depth subject unless you are only going to do Xara spinning images and animated text which is simple. There are many members that can already do that so why not try something different?

Hi Tor

im gonna try to give you a helping hand im no way tryin to be negative towards your work

Cutting pictures out is prolly the most tedious thing to do and could be complicated 'its called 'rendering' I my self use a sharp edged eraser tool and just change sizes, the extract method and soft erasing leaves pixel dust and tend to make images appear to have drop shadows..

Size of work can work against you in creativity parts thus leaving large open areas and leaves less viewing time, so maybe think about smaller sizes also helps with overall layout makes it hard to fill in and work on larger tags then smaller and can work both ways on certain styles

Last but not least and ill take it slow till you get the hang of photoshop fully, but try working on bg, like using smudging and certain paint brushes and even stock images with texture with layer set to soft light or lighten..

I hope you child is feeling better and i enjoy helping as much as creating, so if you have any questions feel free to pm me...
tor-angel
thanks for the advice satan-x. i'll try and take that on board.. same to you faerie :)

hope this works now folks, heres my first animation sig, nice and simple nothing too special

Hey Tor-Angel good attempt, but I would suggest when you strech the images keep them as proportional as possable, if you are using Adobe Photoshop try holding (shift) when you strech them, it makes them bigger without changing the proportion!!!

I noticed you have been getting into the animation lately, it's a lot of fun and addictive trust me lol!!! Anyways I have a great tutorial that helped me loads when I first started animation, (you are getting some of the basics but it's still rough around the edges) it helps with the basics and gives ideas into further projects, if your interested click HERE!!!
tor-angel
cheers very much icy biggrin.gif
satan-x-
nice job,, id slow it down a tad and make it a tad smaller for it has a large file size, the bg is excellent has good depth and balance, maybe not animate the render itself you can use star brushes for sparkle on render and slow animation down, good work, and as I typed the bg is excellent very good job, it may seem minimal but thats one of the first things to actually master...

tor-angel
new one for tonight

foxy22
I really like your newest one Tor-Angel, not too much for the stars and moon.

Seems to take away from the main focus, You're improving that's whats its all about.

Can't wait to see more, keep up he good work a013.gif
faerie
I agree with foxy ... perhaps if you dropped the opacity of the moon and stars they wouldn't detract from the focal.

and your work is improving drinks.gif
