Hi all,
I've been using OpenBox for a little while now and I would like to try something new. Before i totally jump ship with OpenBox, I'd like to see what everyone else prefers and why.

i like xfce (a lot like openbox, but probably less customizable) but most of the time i just stick with gnome as i look at my desktop less than i do my vmware window :P

I'm using ArchLinux and everyone on the forums seems to like window managers with all keyboard shortcuts and no mouse use.
Don't get me wrong i love shortcuts and all just now that much

Typically I use Gnome for desktop environment. Though I do use xfce from time to time, mainly on LiveCDs.
It really does depend on what you want/need in a desktop really. If you just want to keep it simple, a click here or there or running a low memory computer, xfce is great. If you want a frilly type of desktop, KDE, or openbox might be for you.
If you REALLY want to get eye candy going, Gnome with Compiz-fusion is an eye catcher.

I'm running a Thinkpad T40 with 1.5gb of ram. Generally, this computer can run any desktop environment I want it to. I find KDE and gnome to be bloated. Every time I use these two, they are just not as responsive as I like it to be. Fluxbox is great and is very responsive, and I can run all of my programs on it. Firefox, conky, mpd, and others. I'm just wondering if there is another window manager that may be a bit better. By better I'm talking about overall functionality and usability.

i've yet to find one i like better than standard fluxbox when i use it on BT3, i agree that gnome and KDE are slow and take longer to load up menus and such, of course there is openbox and i think blackbox as derivatives of it
