They were doing site maintenance a couple days ago, but I tried to get there today and can't get on

The site is now up and running.

the main demonoid.com is up but then when you click torrents you get the "HTTP 500" error

sorrry i didnt edit my last post wouldent let me for some reason :/ but it lets you search for torrents but then when you click on them BAM HTTP 500

I just went to Demonoid, and I can see the main login page, but when I logon I am just taken to a blank page... So something is definitely off at the moment..

It seems to be going down and coming back at intervals of less than a minute, which suggests the server software is overloaded for some reason. My guess is that it's either a failed patch/update or someone is attacking the site (wouldn't surprise me sadly, with TPB closing Demonoid is one of the last public trackers left).

This sounds pretty likely to me.. Sadly I have been experiencing the same problems.

I have found since day one using Demonoid that their stats are always off. I did read in one of their forums yesterday that you have to stop the torrents for a couple minutes very day to update your stats.

I have been having page load issue for the last week or so. have to refresh multiple times before it will load and no real consistent factor. one area loads fine next time it will not. it seems to be all over the site for me. it works fine some times others it will not. yesterday it was fine all day, today will not load pages any where. not sure what is going on over there.
And the ratio has never been accurate at least as far as I know its always been an issue which they acknowledge and have no intention of curing beyond what they have, from what i have read its basically take what it gives you and move on.

Demonoid maintenance is carried out between 9.30 & 11.00 am GMT daily... although I've noticed that my stats haven't updated in 3 days and my uploads are [apparently] unseeded which I know not to be true...

IMO it's just a glitch because I've seen it before...

I'm not buying the power outages story. I can't believe that Demonoid is running their servers without a half decent UPS that would prevent damage by power anomalies and failures.

Tonight they are on extended maintenance and state that the downtime might be longer than usual. Does anyone know why?

i could not get in either 2 @ the moment. The only problem i ever found is them just working on it for maint. once in a while usually late at night @least over in onthe W3$T C0@$T. I think some ppl just having bad timing.

They are expecting to be down for a few days at least while they rectify some major issues with the power circuits at the server house. According to reports the power failures were causing some major RAM and HDD damage so they have decided to shut down for a few days to get it all fixed.

they usually go down around 3am usa mountain time....at least i am up then and they go down for maintenance...

last night (because i was doing the same)......everyone who could, was dlding patrick swayze movies.....it was crazy....

There is no need to worry. They did clearly state that they could be down for a very prolonged time. I would say give them at least a week from downtime.

Yes. It's not like before when they had their ISP shut them down and they had to relocate again. They've made a clear statement about what's going on and thanked us for our patience. So all we can do is wish them the best while they deal with their technical issues. I'll be happy to have them back up though.

They are still down for maintenance and have not released a date for coming back online. As they said before going offline, it could be a very prolonged downtime due to major circuit changes in the power grids that were causing some serious issues.

A good alternative to demonoid while they are preforming maintenance would be either 133x.org or h33t, although I would recommend 1337x over h33t.

Why is everyone so worried? They'll be back up and running. Yes Demonoid is one of the best but there are many other excellent torrent sites out there.

Well said. People survived for a long time when the went offline a while back. Demonoid is not the be all and end all of torrenting.
