NP Tara biggrin.gif, Hey I might be wrong but basically BR is a Debating Forum.

Staff will straighten it out if need be, but thanks for all your informative post throughout the site...

Great to have such a giving member Tara.

After future review this just might be good for a good debate.

We at Pirate Party Australia are ecstatic to hear of the electoral successes of the Pirate Parties in Sweden and Germany
in the EU elections.

The Swedish Piratpartiet have succeeded in securing 7.1%, over 200,000 votes which will entitle them to one seat of the
18 Swedish seats available within the EU Parliament which has 785 seats overall.

The Australian "Pirate Party" is looking to fill the following positions:

*President
*Deputy President
*General Secretary
*Deputy General Secretary
*Treasurer
*Deputy Treasurer

Hmmm, I think I may run for "President" or maybe "Treasurer" rofl 2.gif

Europe now has 2 members of the Pirate Party in its Parliament. From 1 December Amelia Andersdotter will be Europe's youngest MEP - she was born in August 1987 - and will become the Pirate Party's second MEP.

Her website says:

My political ambitions include a thorough revision and change of the copyright legislation, a complete removal of the patent system and a more balanced approach to security, safety and the market versus privacy, where the latter in particular needs to be taken much more into consideration.

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Tara. give_rose.gif I'll definitely frequent it for updates. I'm not surprised to see hardly any support for America, but I was surprised we actually have a candidate running in 2010. It's a start!!

There's a Pirate Party in Belgium too, now: http://www.pirateparty.be/ -- but the requirements for new parties are very steep here, and there's lots of other hotter topics at the moment, so I doubt they'll get enough votes to get into parliament ShutUp.gif

This wouldn't make it very far in the US. Tho it would be nice if some Louisiana Pirate would step in.

Was trying to get some action going with the pirate party in CA but you'd think more people would know of this.
seems kinda dead - or a least too unknown.

My area of their forums has zero posts...

I don't know whether to be sad or pissed.

Oh I'd love to help out except the multi million dollar corporations and the lawyers that are employed by them are based here.
Kinda funny how companies only play by the rules when it suits their needs.
Fox got it's roots by subverting law and running to Hollywood to avoid licensing fees back in 1910 and filed a suit against the patent company back when Edison was trying to monopolize the industry.

I think it's about time one person put their foot down and crack open this licensing scam.
We (collectively) own the computers, pay for the displays, the power, the bandwidth, the dvds, and developed the means of distribution...
Now they're telling us we're not allowed to use it because they want to triple dip?
(theaters, dvd's, compressed files)

um - how about no.
