I am very new to VMware Workstation and Backtrack 3.
I am having difficulty getting my wireless card to show up when i i do "airmon-ng" or under the lspci and iwconfig
i have a Atheros AR5007EG wireless network adapter and using Vista home premium 64-bit on a Toshiba Satellite laptop.

I have no idea if I need a patch or something? or even how to install it? if someone could give me idiot-friendly step by step directions, I would appreciate it greatly!

also, if you need any more information I would be happy to include it

**also, I just tried using BT4 and that also did not recognize my wireless card. And do I need to be disconnected from every network for this to work?
grumbles
have you got your vmware set to recognise that you are using usb?

even better would be to use backtrack on a livecd/usb stick and boot up off it.

remote-exploit.org

is the place to go for all things Back Track..

I would say that you should probably boot off the USB rather than running a VM but if you must use a VM be sure to bridge your wireless card, not have it run NAT (default setting). You shouldn't have a problem if the VM is configured properly the backtrack wiki is very helpful there.
