You got lucky! There was no way you could have figured out the twist in the first 20 minutes.
I just saw the movie, and I have to admit I though it was ok, I thought there was going to be alot more to it.
Yeah theres no way anyone would 'figured it out' because theres no way its plausible. Its not like he was like Zatoichi... in the end the twist just made it ridiculous.
I thought the film was, hmmm passible but not great. It could of been awesome. The Road dealt better with the idea of an apocalypse. The book of eli should of shown more wasted city scape instead of hinting at it and relying on desert for a set, this just made it look like a second rate b movie. These days with CGI its simply not acceptable. Also its christian overtones makes it seem laughable, the handling of that theme was naive... and lol quaint, like looking back at a tribe of cavemen worshiping a volcano. It was just dumb.... its only saving grace was the last seen when Malcolm McDowell puts the finish book on shelf along side other books of faith, a subtle yet deliberate move thats says a lot to the more intelligent viewer.
this film lack the impact that Mad Max had in its day, simply because it was trying to appeal to the lowest common denominator.
