FIFA is now more of an actual football simulation. You can't tear-arse up the pitch taking on the entire world fourteen times with the same player and score. You have to pass the ball to draw opposition players out of position, to create space to score. This is football!
The problem, though, is this: While Pro Evo is now too 'arcadey' the game mechanics are sound - When you pass the ball to another player on your left, that is what happens on-screen. When you shoot, that is what happens on screen. If you are beating a team 10-0 it is because you are better than them and the game mechanics allow for this.
In FIFA sometimes you press shoot and nothing happens, sometimes you tackle and nothing happens. And most infuriatingly of all - the game randomly decides (often, completely against the run of play) that it wants to score a goal. And it will practically walk the ball past all of your players (who, incidentally, can do nothing to stop this happening, no matter how frantically you bash the buttons) and put the ball past your flailing keeper.
This has unfortunately now left me (ME, A die-hard Pro Evo fan. And now FIFA convert) staring at the very real consequence that in 2010 - 'I DON'T WANT TO PLAY FOOTY SIMS ANYMORE!'
And why? Because I, along with the vast majority of footy sim fans, have been led to believe, year after year, that footy sims were actually getting better. But it turns out that after 20+ years of FIFA and the rest they still can't put together a package whereby 'the controls work AND the game mechanics are sound'!
Thanks for reading my gripe (I do feel ever so slightly better now
