I just installed OpenSuse v11.2, and installed Opera with it (latest version). When viewing sites with Opera (and somewhat with Firefox although not as bad) alot of the images don't display. It's fine with darkside's avatar and sigs funnily but if I do a google search for images I only get about half the thumbnails unsure.gif I've checked all Opera's settings and adjusted them to the same as I have with Windows Vista. I've googled around but can't seem to find any information about this problem. I don't think the problem is Opera specifically as I said it happens with FireFox as well just not as bad.

Hmm, that's oddly annoying. Up by the clock on your dispaly is a image of a monitor wIth what appears to be a yellow symbol is that a display error at all?
Flatline
That's another thing that's strange. It's not a display error it's a link to lock the screen that I put there but it used to be a monitor with a padlock, not it's a monitor with a little yellow circle.

No worries Flatline, Maz will be by soon to sort out all your Opera problems. a022.gif

As for Firefox, have you tried setting a new profile to see if that helps?
Flatline
Had already tried that. Again not much improvement.

Also I don't think it's a Opera failure, I think it's something in SUSE causing the problem as although Opera is the worst it happens with all browsers.
Mazuki
it's not suse specific, it's opera, it rarely happens for my (still on 9.64 here) but i hear that it is more prevalent in 10.x
Flatline
I'll give it a try downgrading.

I installed Opera on my Ubuntu 9.04 box some days ago, because I wanted to compare it with Firefox and Chrome.

I tried some facebook games using flash... major trouble! "Clicks" didn't work, so I couldn't do anything in the games.

But google told me, that the current Opera has some problems with flash (games) or maybe it is the Adobe plugin used... well, I didn't care too much about it... ;-)

Sorry to report that i have the same problem as Flatline wrote. Only i found out that it has nothing to do with the Os or rig. It's the bloody ISP. I live in Turkey and they have active filtering on the ISP servers. So everything screws up all the time. I reported them the problem, but they haven't tried anything. I know this because when i use a proxy site like jtunnel the pages and searches opne perfectly. So this might be the case for you too Flatline.

flash issues are no reason to not use opera, they are a valid reason to avoid flash altogether though :)

windows and *nix alike, flash causes cpu spikes and memory issues, as well as browser crashes (depending on the video player and browser)
Flatline
For any one else experincing these issues in Suse it can be solved by doing the following. Apparently it's a known problem with OpenSuse 11.x, it's caused by it's dealing of restricted media formats.

Run these two commands as root in cli

CODE
zypper rr 1

CODE
zypper ar -f http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/packman/suse/11.2/ packman

And then follow this guide. The guide also helps configure Quicktime, Divx etc to play inside browser properly.
