I have been plagued with purchasing games that promise so much and then failed miserably to deliver this year and Metro 2033 is the latest of these.
Graphically it hits the spot, at least on the underground or internal levels the levels in the open are a tad ify, gameplay wise the shooting is pathetic the weapons kick and jump around wildly and even with a sniperscope on some of the best weapons the accuracy leaves alot to be desired.
the gameplay it self is frustrating, you are given vague instructions on what you are to acheve and then no further help and run around blindly(literally in the levels before you aquire the NVGs) trying to work out were your supposed to go (no map) and what you are supposed to do all the while enemies are coming at you from all angles. alot of the time it feels like sheer luck you make it through a level.
on top of that some levels are very short and these tend to be the enjoyable ones.
the storyline at first was intriguing and had potential then it feels like the writers dropped acid or something as suddenly unexplained flashback type scene started to happen which had no bearing on the rest of the story.
i completed it today and im so glad its over it shall be going back to game to help towards the purchase of either alan wake or red dead redemtion
avoid this game its not even worth renting
