So does anyone in the community have any reviews on nightmare on elm street the remake? so is it worth the money to go watch or should Michael Bay stick to transformers....
I've been a member of this site for a while now, (as well as many, many others the like) yet this will be the first post I have ever put anywhere!
I just read some initial reviews @ imdb... ignore most of those fool. It's being hailed as garbage but here's the truth.
Without ANY "reservations" or "preconstructed" opinions I viewed this "retelling" opening night! I came out of that theatre 1 hour and 35 minutes later feeling well compensated for my 10 dollars. (though the prices are ridiculous)
I think the movie, which is a retelling and not a remake, was very well made and well rounded. By that I mean that the two stories (new and original) are alike enough to be the same story yet different enough to allow appeal to older "fans" of the series as well as invoking a whole new fellowship in the post 1980's generations.
Jackie Earl Haley delivered a tremendous performance giving us all Freddy Krueger and virtually no Robert Englund. I personally think that was the hardest part of this whole thing to overcome for all involved, to give us all a true to heart Freddy, different and very acceptable!
i had completely forgotten about michael bay's involvement on this until the credits at the end and was surprised. way to go michael bay for being able to give us the upper most penthouse (big bucks) as well as the boiler room (not big bucks)
Ultimately this is just one man's opinion but I'm stickin' to it! Can't wait for next one...
