^^^^ agreed she aint bad grin.gif

Eurovision itself i used to watch and me and the missus used to score each entry and try and guess the winner... ( pretty sad but was fun ) but there is no point it is all political voting , neighbouring countries voting for each other... Which mean place like the UK do not stand a chance as we only have Ireland as neighbours and they rarely give us anything lol...

This is hardly a serious debate topic...moving to Music Discussions from The Banana Republic

(although Eurovision hardly counts as 'music' stounge.gif)

I strongly disagree swolen-nose
The euro-vision encompasses many countrys and religons thu-out europe (and since europe is responsable for all other form's of government) also the whole world.
There4 i "DEMAND" that the SERIOUS Euro-visionexpress Debate BE ALLOWED to rage on untill it's conclusion on saturday nite.
(unless u want eyes to go with that SWOLEN-nose nono.gif )

What a campy fight a022.gif

Some of those Next Top Model / Fashion Idol / ... shows can lay claim to being even more camp, I think ShutUp.gif

There have been some very decent, even superb, tracks on EuroVision over the years but a lot of them really should've been forbidden to come within yelling distance of a live microphone. The occasion will make anyone nervous, of course, and that sometimes also makes for an undeserved result. Case in point for me: Italy's 1984 entry, that is still the most beautiful EuroVision song ever for me, but their live performance is amazingly awful, so that might explain why they became 18th out of 19 candidates that year ShutUp.gif

Compare:
studio version - Alice & Battiato - i treni di tozeur
Eurovision 1984 - Alice & Battiato - I treni di tozeur

I no longer watch the contest as internet surfing is more important to me now grin.gif but I do think the competition doesn't produce as many golden hits as it used to, anyway. But still, the chance is there for any talent willing to risk getting their frocks ripped off.

J'aime la vie -- sorry had to mention that one tongue.gif

The best thing about Eurovision was Terry Wogan's commentary. Alas, no more...

It's always been a bit of a celebration of awfulness - although there have been a couple of notable exceptions.

Abba springs to mind. Not my kind of music, but they were masters of the pop genre in their day.

Still, it's usually good for a laugh! smile3.gif

what a total waste of airtime
this should be killed off
britain is not wothy of being in this crap anymore
well tbh we aint got anyone who can sing lmao
my wife liked to watch but since all them other countrys joined in they all use tactical voting
so one of there own wins uk dont stand a chance any more
padster999
to be honest, the uk doesn't put any decent songs into the competition anyway, they vote for it then when it bombs they moan about it, but like /\/\/\/\ said it's all tactical now and just a big farse
ADL_242
The tactical voting was always a part of it, though. It's just the many eastern european countries that make it more apparent now, as they all seem to love their neighbouring country's hoompapa disco mix so much ShutUp.gif

Do any of these country contestants sing in their native language. It's either English or another countries language.

I was surprised when I heard Cyprus sing in French. I think this year they sang in English?
ikilledmyagoia
best part of that denmark song is how they barely retouched and slowed down the guitar bit that's also in Puff Daddy's I'll be Missing You

As a Norwegian, I just gotta say "I'm sorry".
For last years winner, and our horrible entry this year.

But we did produce a cool show, though. good.gif
