What a campy fight
Some of those Next Top Model / Fashion Idol / ... shows can lay claim to being even more camp, I think
There have been some very decent, even superb, tracks on EuroVision over the years but a lot of them really should've been forbidden to come within yelling distance of a live microphone. The occasion will make anyone nervous, of course, and that sometimes also makes for an undeserved result. Case in point for me: Italy's 1984 entry, that is still the most beautiful EuroVision song ever for me, but their live performance is amazingly awful, so that might explain why they became 18th out of 19 candidates that year

but I do think the competition doesn't produce as many golden hits as it used to, anyway. But still, the chance is there for any talent willing to risk getting their frocks ripped off.
J'aime la vie -- sorry had to mention that one
