Thank you! Yea I found a render of GL, and then gave him an outer green glow since it didn't have one :) I was working with the colors trying not to be to green even though that's the theme of the character.
st4lk3r
I definitely looks smoooth man :) it's really worth the time it took...btw how long did it take you?
tor-angel
nice work blue devil !! i like how you've got it popping out clapping.gif
TerraPunks
Very good starting art smile3.gif

Some things i noticed

The green lanturn dude looks sorta streched
and i think the bg needs a bit more colour

other than that, great work dude drinks.gif

st4lk3r: Thank you! Took me about 20 minutes when I decided what I was going for. Hardest part was originally I wanted an actualy comic page as the background but finding one is near impossible it seems.

tor-angel: Thank you!!

TerraPunks: Yea that render of GL was huge, almost 2000 wide I believe. I kept reworking it trying to make it look correct and still maintain a decent presence without cutting off his body. So far I have been trying to maintain signatures at 502X202 including the parts that stick out. What colors do you think would work well. I was trying not to overdo the green but its still a main color of the character. Interested in your ideas!

Here is some more that I had been working on including a few gifts I have tried to do for some of the good folks around here:

My first animated one, Jason said not bad, but we both agree I should have gotten a better
shot with less light showing the character better. I just tried it because it was a dynamic shot.

He requested a change to blue:

If someone could give me a few ideas to churn the old creativity I would be very thankful
for the assignment.

Very good work blue devil drinks.gif

The naughty nurse, (RED) criminal and lord hex are my favourites from the first bunch, although i like the DD one alot, you use a transparent background which is really hard to get good results from(in my view) but you pull it off like a pro biggrin.gif..
Nice work man keep it going :)
tor-angel
WOW blue devil you are very talented clapping.gif the naughty nurse, and akasha ones are my fav drinks.gif
sgp
I haven't been around for a while and so I came to take a round lol biggrin.gif I love your starter and all the gift sets and our own set and the dd too. Love 'em all. Guess you are into bringing the renders or the focal outside the frame like I'm in for flames and fire biggrin.gif
TerraPunks

I like the Lord Hex one.

Looks good blue devil but it looks quite crowded with many things. Could you explain what the big block sorta thing behind the focal is? Otherwise it's quite good good.gif biggrin.gif

I agree I like the sig you made for TerraPunks

no don't pull it out... just figure out a different way to blend it into the sig without drawing too much attention to it... make sure the focus is on the focal. That's the whole point. Your main render is your focal.

Your background needs to blend with the focal without drawing too much attention to itself... the text needs to be readable but not be the first thing the eye sees. Catch my drift? Not that I necessarily follow the rules all the time... perhaps copy the All Spark layer and Gaussian blur (12px) the lower layer of the All Spark... then set the blending mode of the top layer to Overlay at ~75% Opacity... just a guess off the top of my head... don't know what it would actually look like after that. unsure.gif

Depending on the background you can try other blending modes like Color Burn and Color Dodge... just go through them all and see what looks best... that's what I do!

sorry it took so long for me to reply here... your work is rather impressive so far... you will be teaching others techniques soon... including me! You have great potential! What I'd like to give you in the form of advice regarding your sigs with the "outside-the-box" look to them... remember... just my thoughts... either have the top or bottom extrude from the border of the sig... not

example 1: my own sig...

notice how I only have the bottom coming out of the rectangle that most would assume is the "border" of the sig. The top of his head I let be cut off, though that part I could have let come out but liked it better in... but I masked the stomach and right arm below the border and was careful not to mask any of the shield or hand. This increases the depth of the render and creates an effect of Capt. America reaching out of the sig. The shield is closest to the viewer in the render so that is the part I chose to protrude from the sig's "border"... here's another example...

here the fist is protruding towards the viewer so I had that escape the border of the signature... the foot I masked at the bottom to make it appear inside the border... then added some lightning/C4D effects around the fist to make it seem as if it were busting out magically or something... trust me it was just experimenting on my part... you will find you own style the same way. Sure, try some tutorials, but the best thing you can do to find yourself in Photoshop is experiment and LEARN the tools. Really. Learn the tools... what they do and how they can help you accomplish the vision you have for your signature. I am still learning different techniques and am impressed and inspired by others' artwork... that includes yours!

Keep it up! I want to see something from you in the SOTW Competitions too!

He nice going...I do like the crowded feeling though..But i like filled anytime. Nevertheless Jason has some nice pionters.
faerie
I like your autobot sig, although I agree with Jason about the "pop out" also I would have liked a bit of blending.

nice work drinks.gif
Blue Devil
Reductions, blurs, moved backgrounds.

Im working on C4D's but they are new to me and as you can see by my own signature needs work.
faerie
I think that's a big improvement Blue Devil clapping.gif nice work drinks.gif
shortcircuit
Yeah, that's even better!
tor-angel
