This is how to copy your songs/videos from your ipod onto your hardrive.

The idea behind this is that the files are in a hidden file on your ipod so if you can work it out from that go ahead if not heres an ickle guide on how to.

Step 1) Make sure itunes is not open and that the tick box is not ticked for it to open when an ipod is attached

Step 2) Plug in ipod

Step 3) Go to 'My Computer'

Step 4) Click on your ipod (it should of appeard as an extra hard drive)

Step 5) Click on Tools-->Folder options-->View then click on show hidden files and folders then click OK

Step 6) In Your ipod folder should pop up a folder called 'iPod_control' click on this!

Step 7) In this folder there should be 3 more folders 'Device', 'Itunes' and 'Music' (no prices for the one you want!)

Step 8) Copy the 'Music' file onto your computers hard drive

Sadly with this method it is very hard/ impossible to tell which songs are with because they are all named with three letters so you will have to copy all of them but if you open them with itunes and possible other media players they will name them correctly!

Thanx ...

If you've got a second for a question;

Is this the same with an iPod Touch?

I am SO green with the thing that, for WHATEVER reasons I have yet to understand, I can't seem to even get the thing to hold it's charge ... IF I can even get it to take a charge at all!! dntknw.gif

Anyway ... I'd appreciate any guidance/direction/info bye.gif

I don't have a touch my self but my friend who does informs me that it does work the same way but to me it sounds like there is something wrong with the conection in the ipod its self? How long have you had it beacuse you may want to send it back to apple to get it looked at. I think they do this free.

I hope this helps if not keep on posting questions!
