I know i must be dumb but I've downloaded and installed ubuntu and mint but ditched them because i don't know how to get my internet connected. Help please.

Its wired DSL. I've filled in the name and password and service but dont know what to do next.

Do you connect through a router or dialup?

If router it should automatically connect you as long as DHCP is enabled

Here in the Philippines it is backward. I have what iscalled Broadband I connect with a DSL via a small modem with username and password but it is dial up really .

Got it sorted. Pulled the ethernet cable then reentered it Ubuntu recognised it, Great. Cheers
