So i recently got this game on my PC, and by the title it sounds like a pretty awesome game. And it is, until you get to the third mission. Then it is impossible to beat. I have tryed this mission a countless amount of times. I had a nerd rage as ADL would say tongue.gif

But other than that it is a very realistic game and is very fun using some of the real tactics that snipers use. For example, you have to take your breathing, wind and weather effects into every shot. It isnt like Call of Duty where as long as you are aiming at the guy youll get him. Even the game looks very similar to Call Of Duty. The gameplay ( at least i think) is allot better. The bullet camera is a very cool feature. If you were to line up your shot from a long distance and get a perfect headshot. It would start to go in slow motion and the camera would follow the bullet to the target and you would see the whole kill. Its pretty awesome dudes. But there is also a stealth aspect to the game. You must be patient to take down your targets or you can sneak by them. You also have to good at hiding. If you are the kind of person that likes to run up to your target and blow the sh*t out of them with your gun... you will not be good at this game. It is pretty difficult at some parts because you never know where an enemy could be hiding. And it does suck when they see you cause they call up all there buddies and before you no it youve got 10 people shooting at you.

The game runs pretty well on my computer, but i do have to run it on the low quality to keep a good frame rate. The game is pretty smooth but you should have a good mouse to get those good shots in.

Anyways the overall game is pretty game. Its a unique game to play different from most FPS games.

I'll give it 6/10

Thanks for this, i have been wandering whether to get this or not, im probably gunna wait for the price to go down because im broke. biggrin.gif

Having played this for more infuriating hours than I ought to have, I can't agree with your 6/10 score. This game shouldn't even be out of beta yet as far as I'm concerned. Quite apart from being seen while laying absolutely still in a thicket while wearing a gilly suit, I have these particular bones of contention to pick.

1, Sometimes a leaf will stop your bullet from hitting it's target.
I could forgive having to lean out a little more than I ought to need to so I can shoot around the wall which extends further than the graphics (medal of honour had this and so did soldier of fortune). But I cannot forgive a game that has literally millions of leaves, any one of which might be bullet proof.

2, Not even the earth stops theirs.
There I was, standing next to a truck, having just shot someone that had sneaked up on me. I'm being shot. Not being shot AT, but actually taking damage. I look in the direction the fire is coming from to see where the hell this guy is hiding... Nothing. But wait, what's this? A guy comes running over the brow of the hill fifteen feet away. He's been shooting me THROUGH the hill.

3, Invisible walls.
Yeah, invisible walls have been with us for donkey's years. They're usually there to stop us going outside the game's boundaries. That's fair enough, I don't complain about that. but when I look over an ankle deep part of a river at the bottom of a cliff next to a waterfall and think "I'll go over there so I can shoot that guy round the corner before he sees me since he's looking this way and I can't go over this hillock." and then get stopped half way across the river for no discernible reason. I DO object.

4, The inability to climb a 30o incline in one area when I can climb a steeper one just a few feet away.
"Hey, there's another slope like that one I just walked up. I'll walk up that one too." Actually no, because I can't.

5, I don't like having to hack a game to make it work properly.
When I installed this game it was set to the maximum resolution my monitor will allow (1920x1080). Now though my monitor can cope with that, my graphics card can't. So I lower the screen resolution only to find out that the game wasn't in fullscreen but a 1920x1080 window. I had to edit a config file to include a line that made the game display in fullscreen. For those of you interested, you can find out how to do that here: Link

In short, contrary to TerraPunks, I think this game stinks. 4/10. And it only gets 4 because of pretty jungle graphics, because I didn't pay a penny for it (and I never shall) and because I enjoyed the bullet cam. Briefly.

Well Hash i have to agree with you with most of that stuff. And everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Completely agree with you Hash (no offence TP) but ive played it and while its a very good idea its pooorly, very poorly executed. I mean covered in 1 meters of grass (lying down mind you) and still the enemy spot me, whats up with that for example?
Its like its not even a sniper-game. For me its all about taking cover, staying undetected and take out your enemies, but thats just not just possible...Even if you stay hiddem, youll still get spotted while covered with grass in a ghillie-suit... I played about 4 missions and then gave it up due to too many bugs (or irratating moments, i may be a bad sniper but still).. As i said very well thinking but even more poorly executed. Didnt expect much from the 1C company either to be honest. The bullet-time thing was very cool though have to give em credit for that since its a bit different every time...

Well if you enjoy it m8 dont let me take anything out of your personal experience, its your game and what you feel when playing. Personally id say Battlefield Bad Company 2 is the way to go for an intense (but short) sp-campaign...

hehe i agree the campaign is dead short...but it was alot of fun though....i personally took it upon myself to practice with the grenade launchers until i was spot on perfect...

Damn, so the games not as good as it looked on youtube...sad.gif, well saves me the trouble then.

Do these types of sniper games offer any variety in the action or is it all sniper action? Like a standard FPS wargame will have some sniper action, is this that sort of gameplay but in reverse? (lots of sniper fire but regular weapons too)? devil read.gif

I've never grabbed a sniper one before as I thought it'd be monotonous -- same goes for those tankcommander type of games, though I might grab a fighter-based one like HAWX smile3.gif
Hashishin666
It's supposed to be all sneaking about taking people out and staying undiscovered. Though staying hidden against soldiers with six senses is kinda difficult.

(No, they aren't supposed to have a sixth sense stounge.gif)
st4lk3r
NO!!!! ADL dont buy (or dl) HAWX....i tried it and absolutely hated it! get the demo or so and just see if you like the controls (it wasnt made for pc....maybe joystick, but not keyboard). The entire style of flying was horrible and the ground combat was like BF 1942 (Graphics wise, Player control was even worse). Thats why i suggest get the demo since its smaller and just see if you like it enough to get it...:)

Umm btw if you're looking for a Fighter based game i recommend Blazing Angels ( I had 1, havent played 2), It sounds cheap and didnt get that good reviews ( Yea there were a few annoying missions where i could have used an extra checkpoint) but the game was wonderful, the environment was pretty good and the missions were fun and the game had a few realistic tweaks in it...
It might not be what you're looking for though since it differs from HAWX quite abit....
ADL_242
Those Blazing Angels look mighty fantastic, st4lk3r, thanks! a013.gif And for the headsup about HawX drinks.gif

About that sixth sense, Hash: 'snipers do see a lot of dead people... all the time', I guess grin.gif The sniper level in CoD4 was pretty neato but I'm not sure I would enjoy a whole game of it devil read.gif
st4lk3r
Haha the sniper level, i got so frustrated (Yes i'll use your term, i had a "nerd rage"). I was just hitting the trigger shot after shot and managed to pass, But that was because i was having GFX problems and all the characters were "black", not racist-wise. But they were all just black shapes. like someone took the fill tool and selected all the characters...Lol
Oh yea no prob ADL biggrin.gif

Oh yea i checked youtube about the glitches in Sniper Ghost warrior biggrin.gif, The commentators are dead funny when they run into one.
And this guy is also pretty good biggrin.gif

its like that guy read this thread
