How to Jailbreak or Pwn the Ipod Touch and Iphone
For people having trouble downgrading your ipods to 4.0 or 4.0.1 you are not alone. Apple has blocked people from downgrading iphones to stop people from jailbreaking them. So some amazing person from cydia has created a fake server just like apples server. So if you swith the server that itunes contacts to the fake server that server will allow you do downgrade. It is a little bit complicated to do, but if you no somethin about computers it should be easy.
So you must go to the directory C:/Windows/system32/drivers/etc/
Then you will see a file called hosts, open it up with notepad and type at the bottom line of the file
74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com

They are both very simple to do. limera1n requires you to press make it rain, then put your device into DFU mode and reboot it. greenpois0n requires you to have your device in DFU mode and then jailbreak it. I think greenpois0n is allot easier but its really just opinion. This is only for 4.0+ devices so dont try any thing below 4.0

This works for ALL idevices EXCEPT for iphone 3G, use 0.9.6b4 or newer.

Now most of you are wondering what is Cydia? Well its where most of the cool jailbreak stuff comes from. When u first open it make sure you are connected to some kind of Wi-Fi network. Let it load (this may take a minute or two) and a menu will pop up. Most people pick Hacker. If you have no idea of what your doin just pick the Basic option. Hacker has a couple more settings that can be usefull sometimes. Developer is for people who wanna make there own jailbreak apps and themes, if you know how to do this you probably don't even need to read this guide. Anyways after you pick one it will be done. You will be a little bubble over the changes option at the bottom. Tap that and download all the changes that you need, or it will not work properly. Pretty simple stuff, then you are done just play around with cydia and you find lots of cool stuff.
Conclusion,
Congratz you now own a jailbroken ipod touch. But there is some stuff to remember.
DO NOT UPDATE or RESTORE, the jailbreak will be gone.
it works with iTunes, so dont try any other programs
apple will give still give you a new one even if your ipod breaks. (Ever since Steve Jobs found out it was legal he stopped this)
If you think nothing happened, your wrong - cydia will be on the next page so dont go insane yet.

MANAGED TO TANK YOUR IPOD?
Well there are some ways to fix this.
1. Get your ipod into recovery mode ------> video
2. Restore to factory settings FROM THE IPOD then restore on computer
3. RESTORE RESTORE RESTORE
4. Get this and play around with the raw data storage to see a problem
5. Keep the home key pressed, then keep the volume up key pressed and finally keep the power button pressed. Keep them all pressed for about 30 seconds or so (the screen will turn off and on about 3 times), then all of a sudden the Apple logo appears and hey presto....Fixed <-- Thank AsboDuck
