This game will Rock you! I cant say it any other way!
Note: This game does take abit of getting used to so dont wonder why i mention that a few time, but its worth learning.
Small Briefing
From mission 1 the whole game is just insane! (okay apart from a small glitch on the 360 version).
So you're Captain Scott Mitchell who commands an "Elite Ghost Recon Team", Lovingly referred to as ghosts during the game.
I'm not even gonna lie to you, the gameplay looks repetitive and the characters movement takes abit of time to get used to on 360 (On pc its easier) but its very little so, the missions are all different and the story just pipes up the games that much more.
And once you pass the training (Which is unbelieveable boring) The fun starts!
Player Control
The gun control, The feel when you pull the trigger and the stealth in this game is incomparable (Well Maybe to GRAW 2 and GRAW 3 in a few months).
I'm not into the whole tactical shooter thing, i like COD and BF where you just run, get shot hide and have unlimited life.
But that changed when i played this.
You can do the usual, Walk, Sprint, Crouch, Lie down etc. And then there came the leaning on walls, sliding (practically into the wall) and did i mention its 3rd person? Which in this game is just amazing, normally i hate that but here it's worth getting used to.
You can shoot through Certain objects, luckily the game will indicate whether you can so you dont get yourself caught.
One thing i loved is the gun camera, where you would have your "gun camera" be your eye.
This means while you are like that you would point your gun downrange at your target and press the "aim" button, what this does is actually aim like as if your eye was looking in the "scope" but your body is still hidden. Thus you can pick target, maneuver your team and then take a few shots before the Ai knows whats happening.
System, Controls and GFX
The graphics are well done (for a 2006 game, awesome).
The Ai was okay, although kinda stupid but the game was fair, as long as you were mostly behind the wall they wouldnt spot you. You could creep up them and kill them without being spotted. You would die by being shot once with a sniper, Fair enough although annoying.
The controls take time getting used to, mostly the first mission lets you befriend yourself quickly though.
General Game Play and "What can you do"
Sorry this part isnt really organized
This is the story if you're interested
So the game plays along pretty well, the first two missions let you meet up with your team and you can order them around abit, you can heal them so they wont ever actually die..unless you let them (Or cant get to them) in which case your "Brotherhood Score" goes down (I had an A*
But then it happens, you get dropped off all by yourself with no team and told to travel what seems like miles to retrieve "The football" (which is the whole point of the game). And oh boy trust me, now is when you regret laughing at your team mates for running out into crossfire and getting shot. Now you're all by yourself (The Adrenalin here is spiking), And just then you get that warm fuzzy feeling as the game tells you you get to control the UAV drone.
The UAV drone is a small....Well drone...you can use it to spot enemies when in detect mode ( Meaning it comes down to survey but can be shot if spotted).
So you navigate it across the map looking for targets and hope to not miss one who might shoot you in the back. Then you set out for what seems like miles shooting, sliding taking aim, Bombing, Sniping (at some parts)..And in the end of the game you just play it again on veteran (i never finished the game on normal, got half way and knew this one must be played on Vet)
Then heres a poster which actually shows the vehicles you can command, Note: i said command not drive
Yes there's a deadly helicopter who minces practically anything you tell it to, pretty useful tanks who you dont want to get run over by and never stand next to because when they explode you die if you're to close.
Theres two missions where you have to fire miniguns from the heli, very difficult on veteran.
I might add Veteran means- 1 shot=1 Kill. If you get shot once you die! Although if you dont stand to close to an explosion your life might drop to 50%.
Here the Ai is accurate, meaning he wont even hit your hand, If he hits you its in the torso or head.
All in All the game is awesome and well worth getting frustrated over and there's a few parts i can remember that were just brilliantly done and insane to play.
The Game is amazingly realistic on the harder difficulties but unlike other games, still playable and enjoyable even then.
Ohh yea and when you look like the guy in the poster what more do you need
Heres the first part of mission one for anyone interested.
My rating 9.5/10
