like the old xbox or the 360
for the old xbox my sons 5 and he loves playing
worms 4 mayhem
ultra bust a move
i dont know about girls because my daughter is only just turned 4 and just loves watching movies with me not so much games
but i would suggest getting a wii and softmodding it there is a really cool trick when u have it modded u can play games from an external hd
through the usb on the back and save them to it so you dont get scratched diskes it is easy and there are many tutorials on the web
oohhh
and if for 360 i spent 10$ on points and bought the turtles in time reshelled son loves that game but u have 2 buy online aka download.

Ehhh, what was that game called...Ahh ya Kameo, its not bad for co-op..abit challenging but fun i suggest looking at it on youtube.
Also maybe you might want to look at the Xbox family night games, or the lego games...
hmmm by the way, on the 360 or classic?
If its the 360 check
this link. < thats family games section on Xbox.com.
Hope you can find something

If it's a 360, Beautiful Katamari is pretty cool. Quirky enough for older people and childish enough for, well, children lol. Any of the Viva Pinata games also recommended and any of the Lego games (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, etc).

Emulation packs
Sega SONIC MEGA COLLECTION PLUS for the Xbox360, or possibly breaking out a Super Nintendo for Mario world. Playing games that were popular in your childhood might be fun. As the games are classic and you can play for nostalgic reasons, and slowly watch the child be able to beat you and your very own games
Sid Meier's Pirates! It's like playing with toy ships with big bright fancy colors
On a side note, I would also introduce young kids to chess. You never know there aptitude for such things

The Sega Megadrive Ultimate Collection is a game available for 360
linky. I have it and I love it. Rayman Raving Rabbids is ok, but gets pretty hard and, if you're bothered, apparently it's impossible to get the full 1000 gamerscore on it, which is daft. Pretty good fun multiplayer though if i'm honest
