Hi there, devileek.gif

I just watched this movie: Karate Kid, and it's amazing  clapping.gif

I like it soo much, the story is a little standard but it's good ... the sound tracks are awesome especially the song: "never say never" and also

the song "remember the name"  clapping.gif and the ambient music are used on the movie are soo dreamy and cool grin.gif

one word: great movie biggrin.gif

How about everyone else ?

In my humble opinion, the 1984 original was better. For one thing, it was about a kid who learns karate, not kung fu (very different). The new one should have been titled "The Kung Fu Kid" because that's what it's about. Also, they pretty much used the same script and screenplay from the original. They should've done something like it, but different. In a nutshell the film lacked originality. Also, there was too much left unexplained, like the trip Dre and Han take to Wudang. The name of the place and what it is is never mentioned. Had they instead chosen Shaolin, it would have required no explanation as Shaolin is more common knowledge. Few people outside China and the world of Chinese martial art know about Wudang mountain. They should have made the tournament fights more believable to the eye as they did in the original. I can go on and on, but as a movie lover and a martial artist schooled in both karate and kung fu, all I can say is the film was a good idea in theory. The execution sucked.

hey gimmeshelter, I watched the original movie already, and there's a lot of deference! as you mentioned about the name of the movie, yes! it should have been titled

"The Kung fu Kid" why! cos Karate was developed in Okinawa, Japan. so the movie must turned in Japan not in China !!! or at least changing the movie name to:

"The Kung Fu Kid" ... about the Wudang Mountains, i agree with you they don't let us know much more about the the trip from Beijing to Hubei where the Taoist monastery

at the top of Wudang Mountains. But at least I discovered this place ( is like a documentary for me grin.gif )

I have not seen the original but I thought the fighting in this movie was pretty good and that's about it.
