Are you seriously asking for a way to take without giving back?
I hope I've made a mistake reading this.

I think what he is meaning Chas., is can one download and still have a positive ratio without having to actually upload..
Ratz, I wouldnt go by the ratio is shows on demonoid too much.. Just as a rule of thumb always seed, what u download.. this will keep ur ratio at at least 1/1.. I haven't uploaded anything due to my machine, or lack there of.. But I ALWAYS seed at the very very least 1-1, most of the time its much more..

i made the mistake of downloading some full dvdr's that have little seeders so when it finished, there was nothing left to seed after... so now i downloaded a full 4.3 gigs, and im stuck unable to seed after... and this isnt a popular movie either, so i doubt any1 is gonna be downloading it anything time soon...
it was put on demonoid about 2 years ago... it took me over 4 days just to download it...
so im sorry if i offended you by asking... hell erase this if you want...
hellzs33d: i use bittorrent... and i put the file to initial seeding... i even have it going to 500 kbs upload, but its not budging... i was thinking of finding something from some other site to post and share it on there... some tv show... and seed that...

The only way to keep your ratio up is to upload. You asked about getting your #s (numbers) up on Demonoid.. the only way is to upload more torrents.
If you consistently download torrents from Demonoid without uploading your ratio will go down.
If you choose poorly seeded torrents.. it will take ages to download and longer to seed.
If you choose to drop the torrent without seeding it
will effect your ratio.
It sounds like your (and correct me if I'm wrong) downloading more than your uploading and this
is effecting your ratio, both on Demonoid (however inacurate) and your client.
And my apologies if I got the wrong impression.

I have never uploaded anything and I have a 2.24 ratio on demonoid... I just seed more than what i download.. and some more than others.. some dont even make it to 1/1 ratio.. I dont know technics, or have a full understanding as fellow darksiders.. all i know in this little mind of mineis to seed more than i download.. works for me..

I understand what he is saying, I myself killed my ratio on demoniod by downloading Mitchell on Demand 80GB, I needed the program, due to my internet speed it took about 2 months (I think) to get, I seeded back for 4 months and due to popularity was never able to recover my ratio. Eventually I had to get it off of my drive, I had a drive start to fail and had to transfer it's contents to the other drives I had until it was replaced. There simply wasn't enough space to hold an 80GB torrent that wasn't moving anyway, so I had to delete it. my ratio never came back even though I just about always seed back till I get to around a 2:1, when possible. I sometimes get some rare music and there just isn't the demand to be able to seed to 2:1, so my general rule is I shoot for either 2:1 or 2 months, if it is still in the Que after 2 months and no one is getting it from me then usually it will get trashed.

You can easily hack your ratio stats on demonoid, but not a great idea. Or you could just use a seedbox and in no time you'll have terabytes of uploads :P

I wouldn't be to concerned with it ratz from what I understand the people that run demonoid don't really care much about your ratio(please correct me if I'm wrong). Just seed as much as you can for as long as you can and I'm sure all will be fine.

last time I looked my ratio on demonoid was .18. However, I rarely download from Demonoid. I have uploaded far more torrents than downloaded. Seems they use an IP based system and I am on an ISP that uses Dynamic IP assignment. Even though I am on DSL, my ISP for some reason only known to them, reassigns IP addresses once daily. So unless I log into Demonoid once a day to update my IP address, then whatever is downloaded by whoever has my last known IP address counts against me. They've recently did a few upgrades that are supposed to help that little situation. But it requires that you "log out" from Demonoid (as opposed to simply closing down your browser as many of us do) to stop the tracking of the IP address.

firstly i was curious as to what my ratio is... but all good my ratio is 17.5 on the good side...
as being an active member of some other private sites you learn pretty quickly that Uploading will never match Downloading.. but they know that too... and let you off a little bit :)
YOU WILL NEVER MATCH YOUR UPLOAD TO A DOWNLOAD UNLESS YOU ARE THE ONLY SEEDER! and that's rare
as for ratio watch for sites, check their FAQ and look for answers.
here's a little tip that i do sometimes is set µtorrent to connect to 1 and chose unlimited (not for new torrent uploads)

i hardly ever use demonoid myself either... but i started collecting dvdr's and demonoid was literally the only site that had it...
The.Life.Aquatic.With.Steve.Zissou
for the longest time i would stay at the same ratio for year 60%, and i thought it was weird, but im not 1 to complain... but after i downloaded that it changed... so i thought id better do something...
so i downloaded a video off piratebay and just made a torrent and uploaded it to demonoid and i got around a gig so far...
i dunno...

Craka is correct in that Demoniod doesn't care about your ratio, you won't get a whipping just because of your ratio. Just do as it sounds you have tried to and give back at least what you take, and more when you can. Not only does this work in the world of torrents but life in general.

I think that this may have some way to explaining why my ratio is so bad. It never actually dawned on me till you said that. I seed everything forever after downloading. Some torrents I have been seeding for over a YEAR now!! But I looked yesterday and my ratio was 0.98!!! I must log out. I must log out. I must log out........

If you check your bittorrent client, some will offer an option to quit seeding at a certain ratio. Make sure this is not your problem. One way to improve ratio is to find a popular movie or tv show/sound recording and upload it. Check first to make sure it's not a dup of something already there. Nobody really cares what your ratio is, but it has an effect when you ask others for favors. I'm not as inclined to help people out with low ratios if they are pushy and demanding about re-seeds, etc. There's certainly a satisfaction to be had for giving back more than you got and lengthening the longevity of individual torrents.

Yes, Demonoid's an odd one.
My client is set to 150% seeding, and I always leave my torrents on there until they've finished, yet I've never got to a ratio higher than 1.18.
Then I went to the site last week - first time in a couple of months, and my ratio was .85... And I've downloaded nothing from there since the last time I looked, when my ratio was 1.18.
Dunno...

Also don't forget... If you DL a file from anywhere else other than Demonoid but it has use of the Demonoid tracker - it will also affect your stats...
It's always useful to check the tracker list on other sites..

Even using a seed box on Demonoid will not necessarily improve your ratio. The stats for the site are supposed to update daily but this is seldom the case. Demonoid is famous for having very inaccurate ratios, but they don't harp on them either. As others have said at least try to seed for a couple of days or to 1:1 if possible

Yeah Demonoid dont care about your ratio,...so dont stress,...seems like they dont care about much,..anyways,.. i like to seed music rather than movies i feel safer that way

But U might be concerned for ratio say if U trying to get into another private site were seeding does matter,...might look good on your resume mate

You are correct, Demonoid is a public tracker and we don't care about your ratio.
From the FAQ:
QUOTE
My ratio is getting too low, am I going to be banned?
The ratio system is purely statistical and somewhat innacurate for the ones with shared or dynamic ips. Besides what other users may think of you for not sharing, there is no punishment for having a low ratio.

Well, it's what P2P is all about, innit!
No seeds = dead torrents = lots of unhappy bunnies.

Makes no difference what site it is or whether or not they track your stats.
