To Burn a Wii game all you need is a standard 4.7GB DVD-R (must be -R and not +R) and then you get your favourite burning program (I recommend ImgBurn) and burn the .iso you downloaded onto the disk. Simple as that.

However in order to play the game in the Wii you will need to have modded the Wii.

The link you provided TerraPunks is for ripping/copying Wii games. Which by the sounds of MAX111's post and the PM I got he is just look to burn games he has downloaded.

I'd like to know something. What to do if you want to play a Wii game downloaded via torrent on PC?

Yea i thought that to after i posted it, sorry bout that. And about the burning of the games. I think there is a couple ways to softmod a wii

If I might ask a stupid question... How do you mod the Wii? I'm new to all of this Wii stuff. By your directions I have all I need. But when I tried to put a store bought game in my burner it didn't regognize it. I just assumed it wouldn't know what to do with the data it was burning if it didn't recognize an already burned disk. Any help would be appreciated.

You mod the Wii using an SDCard and the modded software. Try googling Wii "HomeBrew".

As for the disks, the PC can read the data it just doesn't know what to do with it. It can still take a downloaded Wii game and burn it to a disk as essentially all it's doing it looking at a binary sequence in the downloaded file and then burning that same sequence to the disk. It doesn't even try to decipher what it means as it has no reason to. Make sure it's DVD-R you burn to otherwise the Wii won't be able to read them.

Also this might be better as an independent topic since it's a different question from the original. A PM to a friendly neighbourhood mod will get it separated for you sawink.gif

there only a few drives that will read Wii discs for the PC

* LG-8164b
* LG-8163b
* LG-8162b
* LG-8161b

No other way round it. Looked into it. I have a softmodded Wii. I believe there is a small guide on the forum. I will look around when I have a little more time.

I am having a problem and I'm sure with your incredible knowledge you may be able to point me in the right direction. I have downloaded several wii games and used winrar to unpack the files. The iso is then recognized as a zip file. I tried changing the association to imgburn and then burning the iso to a dvd but when it is done the DVD shows 0 bytes. I'm not sure where I'm missing the boat but any help is for sure appreciated.
yoda45
would you be able to add a suggestion why I get a disc that shows 0 bytes after I unpack and burn a winrar iso. I give more detail in the previous post.
Mazuki
you shouldn't need to change the association at all, open imgburn and burn the iso file that is unpacked just as it is, if you have multiple files, unpack as necessary but once it is a single image file > 100mb you can burn it as is

Thank you for your reply. I followed the directions for modding the wii and completed the process a second time. I changed to the dvd-r discs described in this post and the game worked. The disc still shows 0 bytes if I right click on the dvd drive and click properties but does work when it play it in the wii. I guess I'm just not gonna argue with it. Thank you again for your reply.

heres how to mod your wii mod wii?
or now that u have modded it heres how to update it in the future easist guide i have seen
also to rip games is easy
grab a usb loader (i prefer configurable loader) read how to set it up and setup the hdd for fat32
then load cfg thru the channel u installed for it or your home brew channel
once in cgf loader insert disc and press + game will then be ripped to hdd
you can also play games off the hdd and cfg can also boot games off the disc and you can put your downloaded games onto the hdd (read how to do it) and play them from there aswell
