iriverter is a cross-platform frontend to mencoder designed to facilitate the conversion of almost any video format to one that is playable on various multimedia players.
1. Download and install iriverter from Download
2. Once iriverter has been installed, start the program up. You will see the main iriverter screen.
3. First you want to setup the device that you have. iriverter is compatible with the iriver clix, U10 and the PMP players. To set up the player, click on "Options", "Device", "iriver", "U10 / clix" or "PMP".
4. Next, select the type of conversion you want to do. You can do Single Video, or a Directory of Videos. To choose, you can click on "Jobs" and "New" and either "Single Video" or "Directory".
5. For this example we will click on "Single Video". You will see the following screen.
6. The Input Field will be the file you want to convert. The output will be the file after it is converted to the "U10 / clix" or "PMP" profile. To find your file, click on the Select next to Input. To change the output directory or file name click on the Select next to Output.
7. By default, the output name will have the name of the profile contained in the file name so you know what settings were used. Example: If you had a file named Calexico.wmv, for your input file, your output file name would by default be Calexico.u10.avi if you choose the 'U10 / clix" profile, or Calexico.pmp.avi if you choose the PMP profile.
8. Once you have setup your files, you are ready to convert. To do this, click on "Jobs" and "Convert"
9. You will see an update as it converts your file.
10. Once completed, you will have a message stating that the file has been converted successfully.
11. You are now ready to copy the file to your player.
