A lot of requests are made for torrents that can easily be found by using a few search sites.

Your first stop when looking for a torrent should be Torrentspy which has the most easily searchable and probably largest database of the public list sites. Next try mininova . If you haven't found what you are looking for its time to try the Torrent search sites. Isohunt probably has the most comprehesive torrent database and may in fact give you too many results, in which case, you need to refine your search string. Btjunkie is a usefull indexing site to search Torinium (formerly Hypertorrent) should be your next stop. You might prefer to use Torrent.to this site allows you to choose which major sites to search. Another usefull search engine site is Torrentz

As ever slookani.gif Google is your friend Enter the name of the file, eg., Clash London Calling Torrent ...and see what it brings up on a search.

Almost all (except NewNova) list and tracker sites have some kind of search function so you can try a search of any of the sites in the sites usefull to uploaders sticky

In particular Demonoid is worth searching as many members do not post there torrents outside of Demonoid, you will need to register to search the site and registrations may be closed.

I quite like these two sites for searching

Torrent Search Engine Searcher

And

Torrents.to

i find them both pretty useful
RIEKS
I take many movies from Torrentfive I think there movies are of very good quality and download speeds are great.

Also iptorrents, you have to register but downloads are also great and at hyperspeed.

Any comments would be appreciated as I see none of the 2 are listed here amongst torrent sites recommended or did I maybe miss it?

It's been there a while ...the thing is people never read stickies whistleing.gif

whoknows.gif What can I say, recently I haven't had as much time as usual to look in requests, but I will say as a personal note if I see a name to often asking for easily fillable requests I pass their posts by and concentrate on the other requests.

the type of torrent dictates where you should search when I'm looking for something that I not sure who would have it the first place I go istorrent-finder It gives me a idea of where to start looking. For standers software and games though i use BittorrentMonster the only real problem with them is there site search it as bout as good as goggles crappy. I don't mean start anything it just when I'm looking for something lets say dvd case Anime replacement jackets I don't want to see 10,000 finds and the first 500 are on new dvd release the next 500 are on suitcases and so on. but have hart even the search engine i use fald on that one. there all to dumb where as some will look for every single word in the search crytera (google) and the give you answer based on each word it going take 10,000 answers just to put all of your search together where as others don't verifiers there links an over half of them are redirected to some bs search engien so you can spind you days in a loop. at bittottent monster use e search with as little info as possible abd never look for the hole name (even if your typing it wile looking at the torrent just below the search bar and put it in presicely and the torrent is written you'll get a 0 finds. Let's say you want a copy of Adobe Photoshop CS3 Beta (i think) uncheck all but software and then search for photo or adobe, you'll have better luck

Since being new here myself, but being a digger and don't like bothering people, I got recommended one site, started from there and since I'm also kind of persistent, I just tried "torrents" in google and basically tried every single site and their links (took me a while) before I found my favorites. Most of them are already listed here and I always start with torrent-finder.com because it searches the most sites at once.

On http://thepiratebay.org you can also search for actors (you can on other sites too, but they have the most hits)

There is also torrent-searcher software out there, but I'm obviously too picky that so far I didn't find anything useful for me (maybe I'm just to impatient) If they worked at all, either they come with spyware or they don't save what I liked. Or they are too complicated for me, like http://dynamic-torrent-searcher.com/ which is supposed to be good.

I also found http://www.rollyo.com/ where you can make your own search engine and I just created my top-sites to search within. And I put it in the Firefoxy toolbar, that's quite handy.

I admit I'm lazy (or think I could miss something) I found the RSS-feaders very useful even though they don't work on all sites properly, like I don't want feeds to app's since I'm mostly interested in movies and not all from them either. But that's more for stumbling over something interesting instead of actually looking for.

Hope it helped somebody

TorrentSpy is CAPUT!! GONE. cray.gif

Here is what their site says:

Friends of TorrentSpy,

We have decided on our own, not due to any court order or agreement, to bring the Torrentspy.com search engine to an end and thus we permanently closed down worldwide on March 24, 2008.

The legal climate in the USA for copyright, privacy of search requests, and links to torrent files in search results is simply too hostile. We spent the last two years, and hundreds of thousands of dollars, defending the rights of our users and ourselves.

Ultimately the Court demanded actions that in our view were inconsistent with our privacy policy, traditional court rules, and International law; therefore, we now feel compelled to provide the ultimate method of privacy protection for our users - permanent shutdown.

It was a wild ride,

The TorrentSpy Team
