Hey guys I use OS X (if it matters) so I would use Peer Guardian but the OS X version of that program isn't so great. So instead I use Azureus with SafePeer. However, I have a few questions.

How do I know if SafePeer is working or if it is blocking the IPs?

Does it matter which version of Azureus I'm using (I like 2.5 because I hate that Vuze crap the others come with- can i update it to the latest version when it prompts me without the Vuze stuff or should I just keep pushing cancel on that box)

How can I know if it is doing to automatic updates

I read in the readme that it said that asynchronous loading would speed up launch times but isn't recommended I disabled it but my Azureus start up times are still as fast as ever.

Also if there is anything else I should know please go ahead and tell me :)

Thanks a bunch guys and if you didn't understand what I was asking, please ask for me to clarify

1. Easy Way to check if your IP is Blocked is to use a site like whatsmyip.org. Not to familar with SafePeer(I wrote a little app to block mine). I can only suggest if it only blocks IP on Peers list in app etc. Is to use a second source ie your buddies PC to verify you are not displayed on active peers list on same torrent.

2. You can uninstall/disable Vuze in the library files for azureus.

3. Once you have newest version instale auto update will work you are stopping curently.

Hope This Helps.

you will know because in safepeer in the options, it will say "blocking 74% of the internet" or something like that, check out blocklist manager, get a list from them i think the site is bluetack.co.uk

grab any list you want, and manually inject it into safepeer in the azureus options

A couple suggestions. First, Safe peer does not block your IP, there are several well maintained "blocklists" of IPs associated with mpaa, anti-piracy orgs, etc. Whenever a torrent being run from one of those IP ranges tries to connect to you. It is simply unable to connect. Safepeer blocks THEIR connection.

There is a program I recommend for any Mac user with "wide ranging" interests. Its called "Little Snitch". Every time YOUR computer tries to make an outgoing connection it can be configured to let you know. Now it does not report every single peer you are seeding to. But if you launch it before Azureus, and monitor it, you should see it connect to Bluetack, or whatever peer list yopu are using. Its also great when one of your "demo" apps tries to "phone home" I won't mention any names, but their initials are MACROMEDIA. lol

You can allow or deny any connections that you wish, and it is wildly configurable, even for a relative novice.

Netshade is a good product for the Mac, it uses proxy servers to block your IP address.

netshade is finiky... it works for 7 days free then you have to pay an extreame 30 dollars to keep using it.
