a022.gif Firstly, your best bet would be to use Azureus for making the Torrent file .... unsure.gif but if your going to insist .....

We find that quite a few people try and make their first torrent with BitComet and end up making mistakes sad.gif

slookani.gif After reading their instructions it's not too surprising....

1 Click on create to bring up the torrent maker dialog box.

2 The very first thing to do is to change
QUOTE
udp://tracker.bitcomet.net:8080/announce
in the Tracker Server and DHT network node list: It may serve some valid purpose in some circumstances but it is this that is causing most people problems as it is not a valid tracker URL

You need to replace
QUOTE
udp://tracker.bitcomet.net:8080/announce
with a suitable Tracker announce. You can find a list of suitable trackers in our How to dominate the Universe guide... slookani.gif If you prefer not to sign up for a tracker you could try
CODE
http://tracker.bt-chat.com/announce
It's listed on the Mininova upload page and is currently working and will be used for convenience in our example.

3 Next, select the files you wish to torrent .... slookani.gif
"note for smart Alecs...yes you can drag and drop files into the main window to bring up the torrent maker but for novices its probably easier to use the browse dialog box".

Simply select either a single file or directory then use browse to point at the files you wish to torrent.

Click ok

Then ok again and your torrent will be created.

4 BitComet starts paused. It's generally a good idea to force start then. Right click on your torrent to highlight then select "start" or select the start button

Your torrent should now be running and you can confirm that with the Torrentspy application....

Here's one we did earlier....

Assuming you really want to share you should get your torrent on as many sites as fast as possible ....You might find this list helpfull
