I'd say SILENT HILL 2 .... what about you ?
ADL_242
Well, the original Doom was pretty intense -- it was the first proper 3D (okay, sortof 2.5D) game and the monsters were really tough too, compared to previous games. I remember trying to look inside the monitor to see if something was waiting around the corner biggrin.gif

Actually Doom 3 was the scariest game ive ever played. I remember thinking hard before I walk through a doorway: which way will I turn and see if a monster is there? Id walk through and turn to the right only to be smacked in the back >_<

I was scared to walk through each door :O
zaxaz
F.E.A.R for sure!

FEAR, Silent Hill and Fatal Frame are some of the scariest game I've ever played. Ok Fatal Frame IS THE SCARIEST game for me, imagine taking picture of a ghost...brrrr scared the s*ht out of me...I hope they are making the 4th installment on ps3...graphix would of course be much scarier...

F.E.A.R. was the only game that's ever made me jump.

I agree Doom 3 is the only game that I've played that I would honestly consider as being serious Heart Attack tackle.
The way the baddies (especially those that threw the fireballs) would just appear from behind, had me a nervous wreck by the time I was halfway through the game. biggrin.gif
I did like that F.E.A.R as well though, that was disturbing in a pleasant sort of way.

Silent Hill 3.....The bit when Heather runs into a room and sees herself in the mirror then blood and various other crap starts coming out the walls and as if that wasn't enough you're then confronted by a"blood" version of yourself (Heather)....and that's for no reason other than to scare the lving hell out of you.... scare.gif

Really? I loved the game and in many ways it's the best of the series. But it didn't really scare me as much as the first....i guess it was cause i kind of knew what to expect. But, as i mentioned before, Silent Hill is the one for shocks and jumps. The sick and twisted minds that create the demons for those games need some serious help!! a013.gif

Myst was scary?

I realise it holds accolades for being one of the best series and highest selling games but I never would have thought them to be scary...

I must admit silent hill did make me jump!

Doom 3, without any doubt. Fear was actully a rather relaxing game for me, apart from the ending mission.
derdritteraum
doom 3 was pretty scary, especially with the lights off and the 5.1 blasting but i gotta say it comes nowhere close to playing as the marine in AvP2. those damn face huggers clapping.gif

I have to agree with Stupidone (in another topic): S.T.A.L.K.E.R. has some seriously scary stuff in it! scare.gif And the fact that its weapons-system is not exactly supersmooth, just adds to the suspense -- very recommendable game, although the beginning might make it look a bit boring.

The only video game that EVER scared me was Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem for the Gamecube. If you haven't played it and own a gamecube it's worth the buy, or if you're a modchip kind of person... worth the bandwidth.

Silent Hill back in the day? Playing that game with the lights off at 3 in the morning is probably the most terrifying thing ever haha.

When I was a little kid, I got the Resident Evil for Playstation game. In the beginning of the game, somewhere you turn a corner and see a zombie eating someone. Then he looks back at you and comes towards you. When he turns his head and looks at you, that is one freaky scene, especially being younger.

Doom 3 kept me on the edge of my seat

lol doom 3 was a little predictable imo. dark juicy corner = monster lurking or ready to appear and pounce on you.

for me it's gotta be f.e.a.r.
Staind4Life
F.E.A.R. and fatal frame
=Sixpack=
Doom 3 made me jump like a frog thats just been introduced to a french chef!

Will say it bored me eventually though, and another game thats just bored me half an hour into it is Bioshock - what utter poo - just another kiddy console conversion for the masses that looks pretty but in your heart you know its poo.

I'd have to say Doom 3 so far. I played all the way through F.E.A.R., didn't find it all that scary. Maybe a little bit, right at the start, but eventually you just get ridiculously powerful guns and it seems more like a sci-fi game than a scary game. Granted, the first time through the first part, in the dark, at 3am, was freaking scary. But the fact that you can have the flashy out with a gun made it less scary. Doom was wayyyy scarier because you couldn't reflex shoot a zombie in the head with the flashlight on. Predictable, but scary.

The fixed angles in the Resident Evil remake, coupled with the slightly updated visuals made that pretty freaky for me too, especially the fact that most of the fights are far between, meaning you feel alone and pretty much screwed.

F.E.A.R did it for me.
Infernus
Alone in the dark on PS1
Lacrymosa
Resident Evil 2 on the PS1, baring in mind I was about 9 maybe slightly older. Either way the part where the zombies grab you through the window scared me to death. I look back now and wonder why though...
flight doc89
without a doubt: Doom 3, followed by system shock 2

I eventually got so paranoid playing Doom 3 that every time an imp spawned in front of me, i wouldn't even kill him at first; i would turn around and run back the way i came because i KNEW that a second one had already spawned behind me :)
tokenganjaclan

this one gave me the jumps MANY times. A few others as well. This ones in the line of Resident, Where you are mostly alone with CREEPY music, then BLAM out jumps a creature... Makes ya pee a little on yourself...DC version all the way!!!

honorable mention:

2 games, and 3 reasons for why they scared the crap outta me:

Doom3:
-You can look ahead, to your right, and to your left. The monster aways come from your back.
-@ random in the game, all suddenly, the screen becomes red, you cant move, and you hear a baby crying... (you're in a "empty" station in mars...)
-It's all dark, you have a flashlight and a gun. And you cant use both at the same time...

Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines
-The haunted house.
-The haunted house.
-The haunted house.

These are the only 2 games that I had to stop because it was too late in the night, and I would poo in my pants otherwise >.<
