Gish! Most have never heard it. Its pre-siamese dream. Give it a listen. Masterpiece! Great "album quality" listen start to finish. You will be glad you did...

sorry, but there's no denying... siamese dream is THE best album ever, not only the best SP album, but the the best album i ever heard... the album that made me like rock, and changed my perspective in a lot of way, i can even prove to you making a track by track comparison, but i'll tell you right out that geek usa is pumpkins at their best and nothing in gish compares to its dynamics...
so...
i am on > cherub rock G1 SD0 i'am one rocks like nothing else
siva > quiet G2 SD0 much better than quiet
rhinoceros < today G2 SD1 i know, i know, but today made SP somebody. and they still play today to this day... i love rhinceros, but u see my point
bury me < hummer G2 SD2 hummer has it all, its pure joy
crush < rocket G2 SD3 bleed in you onw light (do i have to say anything else?)
suffer < disarm G2 SD4 dont ever go in there...
snail < soma G2 SD5 soma is disturbing. period.
tristessa < geek usa G2 SD6 tristessa is better than a lot of songs on SD, but falls flat when compared to geek usa.
window paine < mayonaise G2 SD7 i like the vieuphoria version better but still one of the greatest...
daydream < spaceboy G3 SD7 both great songs but i miss d'arcy so bad...
and you get 3 more SP songs in Siamese Dream just as a bonus...
sorry, i'm an old fan too and miss the good ol days just like any SP fan, but SD is way better than Gish...

i'm sure quite a few people have heard gish.....
if mellon collie had less songs it would be one of the greatest albums ever made. adore is ok. ish. i kinda like pisces iscariot, it's just odds and sods but has some great songs on it.
zeitgeist is a billy corgan album. not a smashing pumkins album.
machina 1 and 2 are just a joke, seriously. they should have just shot the producer halfway through. is sounds like you'r listening to half the songs on machina 2 through cheap headphones on full blast from three feet away, no bass, all treble and way too much distortion.
machina 1 is just a mess.
i gotta go with the above post as it just nails it, if you look at the progression between gish and siamese dream it's in light years not miles.
that said as a debut album gish is great and i do still give it a listen now and again, just not as much as siamese dream.

Personally I am more of a machina fan. I just don't ever get tired of listening to Everlasting Gaze. btw I went to see them in Athens, GA. I was deaf for like 2 days. Totally awesome

All are extremely good. I'm torn between Siamese Dream and Mellen Collie & The Infinite Sadness. Siamese Dream is a guitar record; and its their most impressive musicianship. But Mellen Collie just has so many gut-wrenching songs in it. "Where Boys Fear To Tread," "By Starlight," "Bodies," and "Thirty-three" are probably my favorite songs by them; so I guess I'll go with MC&TIS. Plus the orchestration and string sections in MC are so dramatic and elegant.
Yeah...I remember "Rhinocerous" being a freakin' amazing song!

It certainly isn't Zeitgeist! My favourite would be Siamese Dream

Agreed.
I don't really have a favorite, because the only one I have bought was Zeitgeist, and so I'm taking a break from the pumpkins.

Mellon Collie was the first one i heard and liked it then i got Gish and Siamese dream and listen to both regularly but Siamese dream is the album i consider the definitive and best pumpkins album, as someone else said, if Mellon Collie had been sheared down to a single album it could challenge but that's not the case so there you have it.

Definitely Siamese Dream. However if Mellon Collie was only a single disc album, (cutting all the filler crap) it would probably be the best.

Without a doubt it's Gish.
Before all that sentimental pop-guru self appreciation kicked in.

I like Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness a lot. It's over 2 hours long but I never get bored with it.
I saw Pumpkins live couple months ago. They we're pretty amazing though it wasn't the original lineup.

I was pretty dissapointed when I saw them live, I'd rather have not seen them then see them do a crap show. They didn't play great as a band and mainly played tracks of Zeitgeist. I know it was their new album, but still, if the whole crowd is screaming for them to play old songs, you'd think they'd oblige...

I can't decide on which album is my favorite. Depends on my mood, which is why all the albums are great. Every album has a different sound, a different feeling. I love all the albums Gish, Siamese Dream, Picese Iscariot, Mellon Collie, Adore, The box set The aeroplane flies high (I love Set the ray to Jerry).......I love Smashing Pumpkins so much that my first tattoo was a blue SP heart........................but what happened????? After they broke up and came back they are different. All the albums are different from each other. Gish being one of the heaviest to Adore being a very calm album. Not different like that, but a different kind of different..............does anyone know what I mean?
When they came out with this Zeitgeist, and other crap! It doesn't have that original Smashing Pumkins feel to it, I miss it.
