ere's some good news for those of us who've kept the faith with 3DRealms' yet-to-be-released epic, Duke Nukem Forever: it seems that the guys behind the project are getting into the holiday season, as they've recently confirmed that a teaser trailer of the game is coming soon through a post in their official forums. So soon, in fact, that it's going to be released on Wednesday, December 19 around noon, Central time, for all the world to see - just like the teaser screenshot above.

And it's not just going to be a mere clip of pre-rendered cinematic footage, either - George Broussard of 3D Realms himself says that it will contain actual gameplay footage, something that we've all been painfully deprived of. He also promises that there will be more of Duke to go around after the trailer itself has been released. The forum post that says this, verbatim:

Last Saturday we had our annual company Christmas party. It was a lot of fun as usual but it featured one special surprise. It turns out that several people had been secretly working late nights and into the wee hours of the morning preparing a special video for those at the party.

They created a short teaser for Duke Nukem Forever. After seeing the teaser we thought it was something we should share with all of you and while it's just a teaser, rest assured more is coming.

While we certainly can think of great company Christmas party gifts - the phrase "massive tax-free raise" comes to mind - we honestly can't conceive of a more awesome present than having the privilege of seeing something like the first Duke Nukem Forever teaser trailer. Jaws must have dropped before the party hats were handed out.

In the meantime, let's all join hands to wait for the coming of the baddest dude ever to grace this industry, and hope that it won't be long before we can finally play the game. Hail to the king, baby!

Aye sad day I guess, 3D Realms was a classic company...

This is not surprising. A company has to make games to stay in business, which 3D Realms never had the best track record of doing, due to there protracted development process. But the company was very important for my childhood gaming, for that they will be remembered with kindness.

I have this strange fancy that the rights and code to the current Duke Nukem will not get picked up by a major company. I have this feeling that the code is a cluster F of snips and pieces; highly disjointed. I however could be wrong, as I base that on absolutely nothing a022.gif

Duke Nukem Forever was never gonna happen under 3D Realms' leadership, so perhaps this is good news? read.gif Releasing a half-finished game but one with a hugely recognized name might be appealing to some studio out there? Half the fun is still better than no fun ShutUp.gif though yeah, with the hype DNF has built up, and his oldskool following, showing no respect to the Duke might be a deathtrap too.

Those corporate scum are gonna pay for blowing up my developers..? Yes, no?

...and you're all out of bubblegum?! biggrin.gif

*almost posted this with the 'gum' smiley, but that would've meant the opposite thing giggles.gif*

Like a story that never died, Duke Nukem pops it head up for a little peak...

Rumors have surfaced that Gear Box have taken over the project and secured the rights to what I earlier predicted was a cluster F of code. The president in an interview said he would make the situation crystal clear at the upcoming Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) next month.

So here is to you Duke, keeping the fight alive.

Well said, Falcore! drinks.gif

The world would be a sad place if there no longer were the promise of a Duke Nukem Forever! devil read.gif

Confirmed

PAX is here, and there is a Duke Nukem booth devil read.gif

Here's to it, as GearBox doesnt usually mess around. You cant kill Duke Nukem baby....

The fragments of gameplay footage that leaked when 3D Realms bit the dust, all looked very interesting, so I hope they can finally finish this game without compromising on the Duke experience. imo, if they put enough epic oneliners in there, it doesn't even matter whether the looks aren't as crisp as Crysis² ShutUp.gif

Oh yes! This is great news biggrin.gif
