ok, am i doing something wrong,or just a dope? i put a phrase ... say religulous, for example in the box and press search and nothing happens... just blank screen no matter which tab i click on. i installed the active x control and the visual basic runtime prog... but nothing. any clues... be gentle

Nothing to worry about just download the equivalent of tabctl32.ocx for Vista 64bit and you are sorted. You can do that by just installing vb6 runtimes which are included in the Torrent Search 3 setup file.
Hope that helps.
Now please let me understand, is this a general searching prog like Bit Che, or works only for Darkside ?

It seems that "mozctl.dll" is missing you can fix that by downloading it from here
And then do the following:
Run (or equivalent)
Type (Regsvr32 "C:\Windows\System32\mozctl.dll" ) or what ever is equivalent for System32 directory on your PC.

I seem to be doing something wrong. 
Installed everything, including the vbrun60sp6 and MozillControlInstaller.
Got the desktop icon, when I doubleclick, I get the 1st screen, with flashing cursor in the search box. When I enter something in the search box, and hit Enter, I get the dropdown box with all the tabs, but no results - nothing. Just a blank box. And my little screens in the taskbar stay blank - no flashing blue to tell me there are packets coming and going.
Have I missed something? (I'm very much a non-tech user! )
OS is XP Pro (5.1.2600) SP2
Should I uninstall and try again?

2 Suggestions....... though I didn't read the whole post to see if other suggested this:
1. The ability to remember what program you want Torrent Search to use when opening the selected file type, or just .torrents
2. The ability to add and remove the provided search engine tabs at will by unchecking a checkbox associated with it, maybe in a settings menu.

Could you possibly help me? I installed the program OK, however when I try to run the program I get this error msg.

Incase the picture doesn't work the error msg says "Component 'TABCTL.32.OCX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid"

It seems that "TABCTL32.OCX" is missing you can fix that by downloading it from here
And then do the following:
Put the downloaded TABCTL32.OCX in to "C:\Windows\System32\"
Run (or equivalent)
