can't remember the name.

i was a yellow smiley face with arms and legs and two six shooters at my sides. i went around shooting things in a doom 3d style shooter. classic great game.

Goldeneye, without a single doubt in my mind.

There may have been earlier FPSs, but none better than Goldeneye before or since.

For single player I'd have to say Return to Castle Wolfenstein. For multi-player I'd have to say SoF, counterstrike source or Unreal tournament (my experience in multi-player is limited though)

Definitely Half-Life... never enjoyed any other game as much as I enjoyed the Half-Life series.... awesomeness to the max!
why is everyone into COD4 by the way? COD2 was waayyy better!

I personally thought the 2nd one was better because of the online play. Sys link is ok, but it's pretty boring playing the same ppl all the time.

The first one had the best single player game though, the missions were original and inspired. Did the first one not have online play? I didn't have Xbox Live at that point anway. Still I thought the multiplayer was better on the first game, seeing as they barely changed a thing for it on the second game and removed some of the best maps.

Yes I think COD2 is better also, but I havn't play COD4 much.

Haha, Duck Hunt. I'd have to say my favorite FPS would have to be Half-Life 2. FarCry 2 isn't too bad as an FPS, if you can get over the questing and such.

I'm gonna go with the original Quake, as it had a great atmosphere and still provided good challenges after playing it a zillion times. It's also one of the rare games that, for me, completely lived up to its enormous hype

Either Deus Ex or Team Fortress 2. Deus ex was my obsession throughout high school, team fortress 2 since i bought it when it was first released.

Gonna agree on this one. Quake was so cool, I almost smelled rotten and fried meat walking those corridors...eh...and hatchet free for all at lunar gravity

I'm not sure I could choose a best FPS because it really depends on the type. Are we talking realistic shooters? Then I would have to go with the call of duty series, particularly 4 and 5. As for non-realistic i was a big fan of the original Halo, it had a wonderful campaign that I still enjoy playing every now and then.

Halo 1 - the perfect co-op party game if you can find four people
Quake II (Rocket Arena mod) - that was my favorite pc fps in online play

Now I only like to play fps's in co-op with someone physically there on the console. Online play is not that great, you may as well play a bot. The bot is just as nameless/faceless as the anonymous internet players.

i'll have to say.......S.T.A.L.K.E.R....and then COD4,F.E.A.R,the Half Life series....

Hell Yeah, best shooter ever, especially the multi.

played a lot of fps but to me the best so far was call of duty modern warfare. played that mission where there were just of of you both snipers going in to russia to take out a target. the later part of that mission kept me trying for days ;o)

others that will always be part of my fps faves

doom 3 for the sudden scares ( gets more interesting when your system lags a bit hehehe )

halo 1 and 2 for the possibilities and rich environment

farcry 1! spent a lot of time trying to survive after falling off that damned helicopter and only a rifle on your side, with only one bullet!

Played Counter Strike from as early as the beta days for about 8 years straight. LANs, competitions and such.

I guess I'd have to say it was my all time fav game.

Right now I'm learning to play Aliens Versus Predator. Its an ok game I guess. Haven't been overly thrilled by it thus far. It is scary, with aliens and face huggers lurking around every corner, but I'm a little let down by the graphics and damage system. Those pesky aliens are not easy to kill, no matter how good your aim is, they are QUICK and one bullet shots do not work.
Like anything, this is going to take some time to master.

Starting off as a Marine. Played the alien mission for a bit and an hour of online multiplayer, but I'll be damned if it doesn't give me vertigo. I'm waiting until I got a handle on the marine before I put some serious time into playing as a Predator. This I want to master.

Also I'm playing TrackMania. For those who don't know it, its FREE! Its a car racing game with a twist, its highly addictive too. Thus far I'm 5th in my state, 20th in my country and 3000th in the world out of three and a half million players. Not bad considering I've only been playing for a couple of months. Damn its addictive though.

I hate them. Ive only played 'Black' on Ps2. That game was so hard. I managed to end it with only a hair of life left. By the way, I played on 'easy' mode. Lol.

i'm pretty sad nobody said Fallout 3. Well, a lot of people thinks the game sucks. I rate it my first since the game covers vast sections and elements of the gaming world. You'd almost forget its FPS. ]
