How to disable UAC in Vista!

Vista User?
Sick of being bugged by the most annoying Microsoft idea since Clippy the Microsoft Word Helper?
I welcome you to the Disable UAC tutorial!

This is a very simplething to do which not many people think about doing and just suffer those intolerable messages everytime you want to do something!

First:
Click Start Menu -> Control Panel

Second:
Go to User Accounts

Third:
Click "Turn User Account Control off"

Fouth:
Once this has loaded untick the box and restart your computer!

Hey presto your finished!

BUT!

Now everytime you boot your computer the security center will twine and moan about UAC being disabled, simple click on the left of this security center "Change how security center warns you" and set it to No Dialog box and no icon :)

If you need any help just PM me or ask Clippy....

When I got my Vista on this machine a few months back it was the first thing I done lol.
I would of posted a guide earlier but I assumed there would already be one and was shocked when there wasnt!

There's a handy program floating around called tweakUAC. You can force the uac into silent mode. Still protects you to an extent but far less pop ups.
QwertyChaos
That tweak UAC bascially does what my tutorial will do.
I have tweak UAC on a CD that came with a magazine but I still like to do things as manually as possible :P

Glad you think so :)

hey braggy it worked but i get this msg "cannot open data file to run registration program" i have a toshiba laptop i'm trying to figure out how to turn of this reminder. I read somewhere that i have to remove it from the registry but i'm not sure where to look.

Right before we do what I am about to tell you to try I want you to do two things :)

1. Make a System Restore point, if you do not know how please say and I will tell you.
2. Not hold me responsible for anything that may happen lol On less it's good then hold me as responsible as you like lol

Right.

Start Menu -> Run -> Type Regedit and hit enter

Once this is open press CTRL + F search for "registration"
Now from research a line to do with "Toshiba laptop registration" if you are not sure take a screen shot of the possible result and I will try confirm it.
If this line is found or what you think to be this line simple delete it and reboot your machine.

Hope this works.

Remember check here with any questions of uncertainty you get and remember I am not held responsible the registry can be a bad place to play with :P

Although this sounds relatively safe.

Aaah, Reviving an old topic. It gives such a warm feeling!
Anyways, I really needed to say thanks for this. Loved it when I first found it and my mate has just bought his first vista system and i remembered this post.
So simple and concise.
Cheers mate.
I owe you several beers.

Any way to do this while keeping the user accounts?

I only use vista on my laptop (Preloaded...). Would rather keep the users on there.
QwertyChaos
Hehe no Problem SChrill

And 206Andy206 I don't understand you? You don't lose any accounts when you do this?
206andy206
So the passwords will still work?

Ahh, smashing, i will definitely be giving that a try :D

Everything works.
All UAC really does it control what is ran as administrator - It's that message you get when you try to install software asking if you want to continue.
It's just an annoyence to anyone who is comfortable with there basic knowledge of computers. :)

Hope this was help to you.

I did not even know about UAC until I installed Tversity ... I knew those things where annoying as hell but I was toooooo lazy to do anything about it LoLz! Anyways Since Tversity does not work with UAC I finally had a reason to fix the problem, been happier now that they are gone!! WOOT!
