I would go for Radioheads Exit music (for a film)
On another day, perhaps I would choose Always look on the bright side of life by Monthy Python (I have been to some quite tragic funerals and this song truely takes you out of the pits a bit)
Then again, why not go for something irrelavent such as the rocker by Thin Lizzy.
pfft.
Its your funeral, you choose.

Exit Music is the ultimate choice! What about Let Down? a little more uplifting? or to leave everybody even darker, NOwhere Man by the Beatles.
The Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd, imagine when the female vocal kicks in...
I think Id like some Aphex, maybe the first ambient works, when everybody is arriving...
and finsh with All is full of love by Bjork.
This is my first post hope i didnt waffle to much.
Peace

I guess Joy Division's Atmosphere (
"don't walk away... in silence") is about the most depressed-sounding song (nothing personal, JoyDivision

) and Ian's gravetomb-voice should thoroughly depress whomever is there

I figure I'd be a little down (and out) too on my funeral so why should I suffer alone :P

Yeah Atmosphere and Great gig in the sky would be pretty damn good.

I'm not sure about my own funeral, but on bbc radio 4 about a year ago they had a true story about someone who wanted a queen song played at their funeral, but that they forgot to turn it off when the track changed and they all walked out to another one bites the dust.

i'd want something a little dark or sad like some Johnny Cash off either America Volumes 1,3,4,or 5
but after that since its a bit downbeat maybe something happier after ward to pick up spirits it may be a sad day and all but it should be made a little brighter

Hmm
Difficult one. I'm torn between two views:
1 - I want the masses to feel. "He's gone, but WTF lets celebrate his life. Lets rejoice in his memory. Lets use his example as a lesson for us all and live our lives free from the stagnated values of organised religion and the anxiety, jealousy and greed that modern socety uses to encourage us to consume and fear. With this in mind I'd have them play Rage Against The Machine - Killing in the Name. Id then closely follow this with Super Furry Animals - The Man Dont Give A f*@&%. My Mum'd love that, bless her
2 - I'd want to emphasise their sadness with a heartrenching song that represented me and how I'd lived my life.
Now, in an ideal world that song would be Roger Daltery's Giving It All Away. A song about how I'd tried, I may have failed, beaten down by inexperience and the grind of life, but goddam it I'd tried and learned the hard way.
But i've got to be honest, nice as that song is, the reality is that I just couldnt be arsed to try in the first place. Its gotta be Spiritualised's Don't Just Do something.
