I really enjoyed reading everybody's opinions on the last versus topic(Hulk, Yoda, Supes, Neo) so I thought I'd throw another versus topic out. My cousin, friends and I keep on arguing on who would prevail between the two. Both of them have extreme fighting skills tactics, gadgets, weapons at hand, butI think Bond would win simply because he kills (without remorse if I may add) while The Dark Knight refuses to kill anybody and Bond also has the support of the whole mi6 while Batman only has Alfred and a few others. I think Bond will be sipping a Martini while offing Batman(no intentions of pissing Fanboys off). My cousin and friends on the other hand, have their own arguments as to why Batman would kick Bond's ass (My cuz is also a Darksider so I'll leave it up to him to explain his side).

By the way, It would be cooler if we could base it on the reboots, ie. Batman from "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" and James Bond from "Casino Royale" and the upcoming "Quantum Of Solace". But all types of basis are still very much welcome. ex. Ian Fleming Books, Older Bond movies, Batman Comic Books, Graphic Novels, Detective Comics, etc..I'm just curious and am interested with what everybody here thinks.

That said, let the explanations and arguments begin.

Hmmm... this is a pretty good match. For me I think Batman will win this one. Yes, they both have high-tech weaponry, fighting skills, and dealt with insane villains on a more or less equal footing. It's also true that James Bond can kill with no remorse. However, remember that Batman kicked the asses of insane criminals in Gotham who kill without remorse several times (especially the Joker), so I don't think guns can stop the Batman. On a one-on-one fight, Batman has an armor underneath that costume and is more adept in martial arts as well as in the ways of stealth and deception; James Bond is more debonair and fights wearing a tuxedo, completely exposing the weak points of his body for Batman to pound on. Batman will knock him unconscious in seconds before he can even say Bond... James Bond. The only way for James Bond to win against Batman is for him to nuke the entire Gotham City with Batman in it.

OK, if we're talking in Gotham then yeah I can understand that Batman might win but if we're talking about hand to hand with no high tech toys in a ring then Bond all the way. Bond is essentially a hitman. This means he's trained in martial techniques designed to incapacitate people very quickly with minimum damage to one's self. He'd probably just bop him under the nose killing him in one hit.

Ok, having seen much of both, batman/bruce was essentially trained in bushido and most japanese martial arts apply. bond is essentially trained in them all, from all over the world, like capuerra and mag krava, ninjitsu, etc...government trained assassin vs richboysamurai, both have a government mint to support thier logistics, both have awesome weapons, cars, etc, there's girls on both sides...it would be an awesome match up...however the sheer numbers of kills 007 has to his credit and the lack of killing on the comic hero's (a move to placate parents by DC)alter ego, not to mention bruce is a tortured soul, your supposed to empathize with his vigilante style. Whereas 007 kills his target, gets laid and drunk, every time. No Ifs, Ands, or Buts. So my vote just has to go to the Bond character, just because he is so much more lethal in general.

I'd say Batman. Granted both Batman and Bond are both skilled in Martial arts and such.. But I see it like this...
Can bond survive against some of Batman's Villains? Batman constantly deals with people who are good at killing. Like Deathstroke or Rhas al ghul.. I don't even want to throw people like Croc or Clayface into this lol It would be a pretty challenging fight of course.. Don't get me wrong Bond is bad ass.. but dude lol it's Batman. I'm pretty sure Batman has taken worse opponents than Bond under much worse conditions.

Bond and Solid Snake aren't really the same.. Only cause they're from the military. Indeed they have similar traits but.. Put Bond against a Ninja.. or even Metal Gear. I'm sure Solid Snake can take Bonds villains out relatively easy in comparison. I don't think Bond would be able to survive in a jungle with out any of his gear. lol

Batman in the Metal Gear world would work pretty well or vis'a versa.

I think (or would like to think) Batman would win. Bond is highly trained and there is no denying, a very formidable opponent.

I like to think that Batman would get the upper hand...especially if we are talking The Dark Knight graphic novel Batman, where lets face it, he's an absolute bad to the bone hardened killer. Batman has also dedicated a lot of time to martial arts and the like, so Bond may not have the upper hand in that area like some have suggested.

At the end of the day Batman is one of my all-time Heroes, so I may be biased.

Whist I love Batman and he is one of my favorite characters, there is one things that separates them.

James Bond, partucully the new one, is willing to kill his opponent. Batman prefers to avoid killing his opponent unless it is unavoidable. For this reason alone batman would win.

Well, he could always leave James Bond in a coma for the rest of his life... not exactly dead.

It's obvious to me that Batman would win hands down.

Batman has mastered nearly every fighting style on the planet. He learned Shaolin in China, western boxing from Wildcat, and re-learned martial arts under Lady Shiva. Batman was also trained as a League of Shadow ninja assasin, becoming a master of stealth, and escape artistry, thus having the effect as being "invisible."

If Batman can take out 7-8 guys whatever their training consistantly, then he can take out one guy - James Bond.

I don't know how accurate this is but it seems quite possible since I've been reading Batman comics for over 20 years, that Batman's abilities include near superhuman status through years of rigorous training. Through these years of training, he has obtained peak human strength, agility and skills in acrobatics. On some occassions, Batman has been known to be able to perform humanly impossible feats such as punching through brick walls or kicking down trees. He is a master of 127 different forms of martial arts, thus making him a very unpredictable opponent to his enemies.

I have to go with the Bat. I mean he has tangled with the usuals, Spawn, the Predator, and he's even killed Superman a few times. Has Bond faced anyone like Superman? You also have to consider that bats is crazy ever since his parents were killed. If he even thinks Bond is on the wrong side of the law, well let's just hope Bond isn't engaging in his usual bout of coitus at that moment.

If you take all of the impossibilities and idiocy of the superhero worlds that are allowed to slide, eg. getting around in that full combat armour, head gear and cape, swinging round gotham etc and put it aside. In reality, Batman would have the floor wiped with him. Bond in the same universe would be just as strong, fast, intuitive, and intelligent except he doesnt wear a cape, just a dinner suit. He's the super agent who will take all your money at cards, diss you publicly in front of your boys while alone, sleep with your woman, give you a hiding physically and then kill you; he's got government funding for gadgets, and is licensed to kill at his discretion.

Both are one man army's, difference is Bond is ruthless, Batman isnt.

Oh please it will always be Batman. He has been trained way more than Bond. He knows so many different martial arts techniques while Bond knows the simple stuff. Batman also has better mental training than Bond which makes him a better thinker as well making him utilize his gadgets to counter bond.

It's a slighjtly difficult question because we don't klnow the parameters. Most problematic I would say is do they know each other and who/what they are? I saw many comments about how Bond kills fast and without conscience. True normally, but only when it comes to criminals. Batman may technically fit in that category as a viglinate, but then again Batman is also basically exactly the same as Bond, somebody set to work against criminals; Batman just lacks a government badge to authorize what he does. And if Bond knows Batman for who and what he was then he would never kill Batman, and of course other than in alternate reality situations, Batman doesn't kill either.

So if they know each other but have to fight, then we have a scenario to work with. And in that scenario of a fight between the two with no confusion of identity there would be no killing on either side, and Batman would win fairly easily. Batman is the better fighter having scoured the earth to learn every form of fighting style over a number of years, and Bond has had some MI6 training in hand-to-hand fighting. And Batman also has the edge in gadgets since he can spend any ammount of his billions to fortify his arsenal, while Bond has gadgets made by him from MI6's weapon labs, high-tech in some ways, but also based on government budgets and therefore much more limited in possibilities. So Batman in 1 : better fighter - better gadgets - and more used to fighting to win and not having to ever resort to shooting an opponent to finish a fight.
