Hi all,

I just thought I'd pop in and say "I switched to an iMac" and boy am I impressed!!! I'd been a long time Ubuntu user (I detest windows with a vengeance)
But decided that although Ubuntu was really quite impressive, the problem (with all Linux Distros) was a lack of OS ownership. OS X seemed to me to be the obvious solution. I think I was right.

This machine (24" 2.8Gz Intel Core 2 Duo) rocks like a rock thing. a013.gif

I like it a lot!!!

I love the setup of the MAC operating system, but I detest how one must pay for all of the updates to the MAC OS (aka upgrading to leopard, panther, etc). The upgrades are so subtle I don't see why one must pay for them, and it's annoying how new programs require the latest version of OSX. MACs are just too expensive in my opinion.

What are you talking about? That's just plain ignorant, no disrespect intended. diablo.gif

There are a lot of people still running Tiger and most of the latest software. You're obviously a PC user who doesn't know much, if anything, about Mac other than what you've heard from other PC users. If you're going to give us your opinions about Mac, you should at least know something about them.

yeah, I agree with groon.

that is very ignorant of you to say.

the updates are just like going from windows XP to Vista... your problem is that Mac is actually updating their OS continuously instead of waiting 4 years in between major releases like windows.

and when Mac makes any release it's not buggy as crap or have multiple "levels" of the program. They also offer continuous updates when problems are found and don't install little "extras" in their release paks like windows does.

all in all, each system does have it's down side, but anyone who owns a Mac would probably say that there are more problems with windows than with Mac.

and to be objective I'm going to add that Mac doesn't have the 3rd party support windows does or the range of programs from major companies... though that gap is shrinking substantially since the advent of the IntelMac.

I will be honest when I say, don't post in the Mac Threads with stuff/posts that don't help the poster answer his question for HELP... and that IS why they posted in there in the first place.
