Totally out of my element here and as such...sounding like the fool.

I just stumbled upon Death Note. The Comic, the animation and the movies. Not seen any of it and before I do, I was wondering is the animated series does the books justice and from that if the live action is worth seeing.

from what i've seen (tv/movies)and read, the manga is pretty true to the anime and the live action was better than i expected. i mean yes the actors you have probably never heard of but don't let that deter your curiosity. and it also depends on your taste in anime, some love it and watch deathnote anything others hate it or hate the type of anime/storyline it is. in my opinion it is worth watching. if you feel different after watching it you can go to the don't kick the tdm thread and give me a good kick for having you watch it.

The only difference between the Death Note manga and anime is the ending. Personally, I preferred the ending in the manga. I won't spoil it for anyone here, though. All I can say is that Death Note is one of the more engrossing manga/anime that I have read/watched in years. It kept me up all night because once you start reading/watching it, you wouldn't want to stop until you reach the ending.

They are all good, I liked the series a lot, and the movie based on the manga/anime series is well worth a watch, they all are pretty true to each other except for the aforementioned ending(s), which I won't spoil for you either!, Enjoy, A_C.

ok...thought I would pop back in with an update.
Last night I watched the first movie and the first episode of the Anime and to say I'm impressed is an understatement.

The visuals were impressive. The animation is beautifully drawn and the live action is well captured on film.

That being said, I've decided to watch the 36 episodes of the anime before going on to the second live action movie.
I'm going to do this simply because based upon the first 22 minute animated piece of the series, it is MUCH more in depth in the character development and as such, I'm hoping for a much richer story line.
