If something needs to be converted I use VisualHub before burning:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/21888/visualhub

It gives you a lot of options besides just converting, and when it's done I burn it in Toast.

it's currently unavailable at the link you sent.

clicking on the get info show's the guy quit his whole project of conversion stuff... you got the program for me?
groon
I don't have the latest version, I haven't had to convert anything in a long tome, but it's still available if you look around.

This is a line of text I read... it's interesting. What does it mean?

I also noticed CNET doesn't link to the VH site when downloading... it seems as though they have it for anyone who wants it.

It's the name and serial# you use to register it.

Then why did you ask?

it doesn't work now that I think about it because I can't post the inflection in my voice.... I'm dumb sometimes.

I know this is an old post but as someone suggested, FfmpegX does an excellent job converting to DVD format.

http://www.ffmpegx.com/download.html

Since the demise of VisualHub, I've decided to start using FfmpegX more to get myself more acquainted with it.
irkillroy
well, since you came and made the comment, I have Visual Hub on my release list, and had no problem with it so far...

I think it's great and less complicated the FFmpegX

so for the beginner or any other user... you should use it.

I had no sound when converting a xvid to dvd using Toast 10, it was because Toast uses Quicktime to covert.

So i found this: Perian

Perian enables QuickTime application support for additional media:
File formats: AVI, DIVX, FLV, MKV, GVI, VP6, and VFW
Video types: MS-MPEG4 v1 & v2, DivX, 3ivx, H.264, Sorenson H.263, FLV/Sorenson Spark, FSV1, VP6, H263i, VP3, HuffYUV, FFVHuff, MPEG1 & MPEG2 Video, Fraps, Snow, NuppelVideo, Techsmith Screen Capture, DosBox Capture
Audio types: Windows Media Audio v1 & v2, Flash ADPCM, Xiph Vorbis (in Matroska), and MPEG Layer I & II Audio, True Audio, DTS Coherent Acoustics, Nellymoser ASAO
AVI support for: AAC, AC3 Audio, H.264, MPEG4, and VBR MP3
Subtitle support for SSA/ASS and SRT

Hope this helps.
