What player are you using? If it is MPlayer the only thing I can think is you don't have the correct font on your computer or the player is not recognising it.

Good Luck

I'm using every player know to the mac... quicktime, divx, mplayer even DVD player.... nothing worked.... I have the fonts on my computer, it's just the file I'm downloading isn't the right character encoding... and I have cyclone_X for re-encoding it... problem is I can't tell which encoding the damn file is.

I was having the same problem trying to hard-sub before burn. i'm still running tiger so my software options are limited. especially if i didn't want a single flick encoding fore hours only to re-encode again to burn. i finally ran across an app that has worked well so far.....
