ok so i have got a static ip set up in my network (192.168.1.2 for my machine), i have set my azeurus port to 55000 and forwarded the port on my router. i have 2 routers, the apple one only makes it wireless. i have done a speed test and i can get around 800-900kb/s, but i can never get more than 80 kb/s in total when downlaoding. i also have my mac firewall off. the average swarm speeds of the torrents can be in the hundreds and i will still run at a few kb/s for the torrent, i always need to have multiple torrents running to get up to 80kb/s otherwise it rarely goes over 40 kb/s for one torrent. i am confused as i dont know what i am doing wrong. aggressive.gif cray.gif

Maybe your upload speeds are too slow. Or maybe there's something wrong with the router setup. Did you try with a direct connection, bypassing the router?

There could be a lot of reasons why you might not be getting good download speeds, but one of the first things you should try are other torrent clients.

Transmission, for example, it has far fewer options than Azureus and is supposed to work very well, meaning there are fewer settings to mess up and fewer things to diagnose. And while you're trying it, make SURE that your port is open (there's a test for that) not just that it's SET to be open.

Personally, I like Azureus better but there are a million options to tweak and if you're going to mess with them you should know pretty much what you're doing. A lot of people swear Transmission is the best so be ready to switch if it performs better.

Here are some more torrent clients.

And finally, here's the Vuze forum if you want to stick with Azureus.

Otherwise, maybe someone else has a suggestion.

you say you have two routers, are you connecting through one that connects through the other? if so, you will need to forward the port through BOTH of them
irkillroy
Mazuki is correct, that should fix your problem... however, you'll be doing a crap load of work for nothing if that's not the problem... like groon said, put a hard wire into your computer directly into the modem first and see if that speeds things up... if so then goto town on the routers.

don't forget PeerGuardian!!!!
Toxicloud
ok i put the other router onto bridged mode, that should bypass the porting thing (from what i have read), what peerguardian should i get?? :S theres a peer guardian, peerguardian 2 and peerguardian lite

thanks for all your input

Use the SafePeer plugin for Vuze/Azureus.
