I have tried quicktime and VLC and no luck but I also don't know if I am ripping the right file so Maz if you could let me know what file I have to rip cause as you know I am a rookie to all of this stuff so any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!!
First some questions:
-- What version of HandBrake are you using? The newest version as of now is 0.9.3 If you don't have the newest version, I'd suggest getting it.
-- When you select the source of the input file, what are you selecting?
-- Are you ripping the DVD to the hard drive first using something like MacTheRipper?
-- Are you attempting to re-encode from another format?
-- Are you using the presets from the menu?
I've been ripping DVD's and encoding on the Mac for years
I've found that while most of the time, if you have VLC installed you don't really need any sort of DVD decrypting type software when using HandBrake. I've even used HandBrake and ripped using Fairmount. However, it works faster and is more dependable copying the DVD and removing protection using something like MacTheRipper 3.0r14m then ripping from the hard drive source.
Ever since Macs went Intel, it's gotten a whole lot easier.
