I like it  - especially how you've got the mermaid in exactly the right position over the rock.
If it was me, I would have spent far too many hours putting hundreds of individual rocks in the background (because I'm obsessive & don't know when to stop), and would have made the rocks more complicated - but I really like the rock texture.
What was the program you used? (looks kinda Bryce-like - I'm sure I've seen that sky!)
I would also maybe have put a reflection in for the mermaid - but that would be very awkward to do properly if it is Bryce that you're using

Cheers Bastet :ssmile:
I used Bryce for the landscape and Photoshop for the mermaid...
unfortunately I'm not proficient enough to do anything more complicated yet

and inserting objects into Bryce had me tearing my hair out.
Back to the tutorials
Thank you for your help Bastet...appreciated

About all I can do is use crop and resize in Photoshop so all I can say is that I like your picture fae :ssmile:

Inserting 2d objects in bryce is a pig and virtually never worth the frustration
btw if you ever need 3d objects for bryce I have a somewhat varied collection of mainly architectural stuff

Thanks Bastet  ...might be a little while before I get to that stage though

Thank you
I tried to put fireflies over the water...and their reflections....it looked like Bonfire night
more practise
Bastet
Oct 29 2005, 10:10 PM
A cheat that sometimes works ...
1. Get your firefly in something like photoshop, on a transparent background
2. Save a copy to mess around with
3. Open your pic in Bryce - this would be before you put anything in the trees
4. Select Create - 2D picture object, which opens the Picture window
5.Click on Load in the first of the 3 squares, then select your firefly
6. Click Copy, again in the 1st square, then select Paste in the 2nd
7. The 3rd window should then show a potentially useable image
8. Click on the tick & it should bring your pic into the frame - you can then drop one onto the water & then put your original in the air using photoshop - which gives a strong image plus a fainter reflection. You sometimes have to work on the positioning a lot of course.

You should, you'll be great at it. Honestly - it takes longer to write down than to do - heres one I just did in 5 mins while I was reminding myself how to do it

Very nice castle ... is it a 3d one?
jason underhill
Dec 1 2005, 06:19 PM
anyone read Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake?
that's what the castle would sort of remind me of. And I think ABBANDON's got it on the head, the light in the door really makes a good focal point
nice :a013: (British understatement! - most excellent)

Dec 1 2005, 10:36 PM
Thanks AB, Bastet and Jason
@ Bastet ... the castle is 3ds max castle creator
kippies
Dec 3 2005, 11:39 PM
its one of those only in cyberspace ones- its impossibly complicated (the castle) but viewing the rendering you dont see that just a nice piccy of a castle..its a real good job fae, your eye is drawn to the centre of the piccy - worked really well

I'm in awe
you inspired me to get a copy of bryce - but I confess I don't really know where to start. Must say I haven't really had much time to explore it's intricacies yet, but those results you produce are stunning :a013:
btw if we are to inherit *cough**cough* some pet pterydactyls maybe it's time you had a name change to Hagrid
faerie
Dec 16 2005, 10:03 PM
It takes a little while to find out how to position objects and where everything is...but you will soon be up and running Jason :a013: and thank you for your kindness Jason...or is that Mr Underhill?
