Hello all, hopefully someone can help me (I have spent hours googling and I'm about to pull my hair out!

My laptop (HP dv2000) no longer boots Windows Vista...I just get the blue screen of death. And since I just purchased a Mac Mini, and it came with Mac OS X software discs, I was hoping there was a way to install Mac OS X on my busted laptop. I figured I would try to boot straight from the disc, but that didn't work.

I then visited
CODE
http://www.ihackintosh.com/2009/01/install-mac-leopard-os-x-retail-dvd-on-a-ordinary-pc-with-boot-132-hack/
and tried that method. I was able to boot into the disc, because I saw the Apple logo and the spinning wheel. Once that screen exited, my screen just remained blue, and nothing else happened...I left it alone for 30 minutes just to make sure.

I am currently in the process of wiping all the information off of my Local Disc using Killdisc utility, and I am going to try again...if that doesn't work I will just reinstall Windows *sigh*

Do you guys have an easier method, or way to hack my laptop to accept the install? I appreciate any help that will be thrown my way. Since I am losing all of my old data anyway, I am up for anything, as long as it has proven to work.

Cheers guys!

No one? Oh well...turns out this is very complicated! I cannot get wireless internet to work to save my life.

I am trying to install it on a separate partition now...I want to run it on a virtual machine (through Linux/Ubuntu).

On a side note, Ubuntu is quite cool, liking it! Even if I can't get the virtual machine right, I think I will keep linux on my laptop.

Using Kill Disk is pretty excessive. You could've used any partitioning live CD, like GParted, to simply delete the partitions. It's very hard to install Mac OS X with a retail DVD. It's easier to use a distro from the OSX86 community, but there is no guarantee that all your hardware will work. You should check out http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/

Never knew about Gparted, thanks for the tip! I have now wiped my system clean (again). I have Ubuntu as my main OS, and I have created a Virtual Machine to run Vista. I want to figure out how to create a virtual machine for Mac, but due to problems with apple this doesn't seem possible. I have googled around and have found no concrete answers except for "it has been done." Does anyone know how to do this?
