And we are getting MORE.

From TellTale Games comes the Tales of Monkey Island. An episodic content release. From the makers of Sam & Max (a very stylish game all around). So prepare your swords and insults.

The good folks at LucasArts are redoing the original Secret of Monkey Island with eye popping fresh graphics. The Secret Of Monkey Island. With full voice acting from the cast of Monkey Island 3 and 4. Very exciting I know! With the ability to switch back and forth between the old and new graphics, it is a true re-doing. The essence so to speak

So for all the Monkey Island fans bounding about (chances are you have already heard, if not well shame Sir!). If you are a fan please show off your uber coolness with the retort to this razor wit, and possibly a comeback if you have what it takes.

Just watched a vid on XBL for the release of Monkey Island SE on Marketplace and it looks stunning. The graphics have been bought right up to date and the musical score and voice acting seem to have had a lot of care and attention paid to them. Looks like they've done justice to s truly brilliant series.

Aye. The ability to switch the graphics back and forth is impressive. I think I will have a lot of fun with that aspect. Hopefully it kicks the proverbial ass so we can get LeChuck's Revenge remade.

Just one more day then we are officially in the month that a new Monkey game will be released . Been replaying some of the Old Sam & Max games to get a feel for TellTale games. The writing is super, but the graphical interface lacks the ability for complex tasks. As well as pretty simplistic puzzles. If they use the same engine I can only think the same limitations will be applied to the new Monkey Games. The writing will have to be super then

Aye it is out, and of course I have run threw the game already.

It appears the episodes will contain one long story instead of small individual situations. The voice acting of Guybrush is superb as only Dominic Armato can do. The voice of LeChuck was a little on the weak side, as it lacked the bass booming soul shattering evil demonic ghostly quality of the previous attempts. The sound effects are all very well done, especially the wind. The wind blows, it blows.....

The graphics were a nice touch, and an upgrade from TellTale usually graphical quality (thow you could still tell it was made using the same system). It was odd because you can turn the detail level from 1 to 9. 1 looks like crap, but so did 9 as it was far to hazy, 5 was the perfect balance between haze and sharpness. The story was compelling and the introduction of a new character (Cough He likes snails, and wine ) was a highlight. The writing was okay, but never reached the level of true awesome I have come to expect from Moneky Island, or TellTale with there Sam & Max series. It does however most certainly leave the posability for growth in this department and I am sure they will pull it off.

As always the game was filled with many inside jokes, and trial and error jokes. Half the fun is clicking on everything, and then doing it again and again and again, I mean what if it says something different

haha yeah, i totally agree.

havent played it all the way through yet (i'm actually stuck really early on lol, the brain aint what it used to be) but there have been plenty of little jokes and one-liners that have made me giggle.

I could do with a hint in the right direction as to the bit i'm stuck on but cant access any websites that are to do with gaming (stupid company web filter), and am not sure what yr forum rules are on posting possible spoilers, so if you can let me know the best way to ask i would appreciate it. I dont want a solution to the puzzle, just a kick in the right direction lol.

At first the characters looked a little like paper cut outs, but you get used to it pretty quick. This is the case because it is built over the original game. The ability to go between the original and new graphics is seemless and instant (really cool feature). The voice acting and ambient sounds are spectacular

The pricing is also very nice at only 10 dollars for the download, "I love it when a game comes together"

Hey I recently downloaded the game using steam, did the install and everything and am coming up with an error saying "this game is currently unavailable, please try again later."

I went through all the listed troubleshooting steps and its still not making any progress. I was just wondering if anyone ran into this issue or if they knew how to fix it.

Steam Says: Game Not Available at the Moment, Try again Later

Most common solution:

1. Log out of Steam.
2. Delete the ClientRegistry.blob file here:
C:\Valve\Steam\Clientregistry.blob
or here:
C:\program files\Steam\Clientregistry.blob
(or wherever you installed Steam to)
3. then reboot and log back into Steam.

It may do some auto updating that is normal, and may help this issue.

:( Yea I tried that as well. It was part of the troubleshooting steam had on the website. Sent in a support request so we shall see where that leads. I really appretiate the speedy response though, you guys here are amazing.

hehe i vaguely remember these from when i was 4 lol i just remember the character and Lechuck, but hey if memory serves it was a great game ...
But now that i see its been re-done...hehehehehe....
