Hey,

i dont know about mint, but for all others i have used you just need to change the sound input device to 'front mic'
i couldnt tell you precise steps but it will be in sound options/ properties.

hope that helps :)

Thanks, I looked in control center under sound preferences. THe Audio Conferencing - sound capture is set to 0ss - open sound system. The other choices I have arelisted below. I have tried all and none work.

HDA Intel STAC92XX Analog (Alsa)
HDA Intel STAC92XX Analog (OSS)
ALSA - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture
*OSS - Open Sound System
PulseAudio Sound Server
Test Sound
Silence

BTW- I know I have a built in MIC and it works becuase I can livecd windows 7 and get it to work. I sure someone will say use that but no thanks.

Okay, yeah i just noticed your using a netbook... I am now having the same problems with the new Ubuntu netbook remix.
I'll have a mess around with some settings tonight and i'll post if i can find a fix for it.

EDIT:

Okay i have a possible solution.

Do you have a sound applet in your taskbar? (like a picture of a speaker)

If so you either click on it then click volume control and adjust front mic, or right click then "Open Volume Control" and adjust front mic.

Hope that helps
