Hi all
Here is my guide on how to make the DVDs and CDs you copy look better!!
It's very simple, just folow these easy pointers.

1. Use Itunes or a simular program to burn an audio CD. This makes the track name come up instead of "Track 1", "Track 2", Etc.

2. Name your DVD before burning. It just makes the name come up when you put it in a computer, a good touch.

3. Get the proper cases. Buy CD cases for CDs and DVD cases for DVDs, Not only does it make them look better, it makes them fit into there respective stands.

4. Go to Cover Target and get the covers. They let you identify the CD/DVD and provide track names in the case of CDs and movie info in the case of DVDs

5. Make disc labels. I don't do this myself because of the cost, but a nice thing to do.

With these simple steps you can make your copies easyer to use and look nicer, so why not start now!!
Good luck with your copying!!

I personally use a DJ box to keep all my stuff in though
kingjames488
whats DJ box?? never herd of it.
Well I have only a 100GB HD and it's partitioned, so only about a 50GB C drive.
I save my music and mp4s for my ipod on it and after that I'm running out of room.
It's nice to make a hard copy tho, just incase you forget to back something up and your comp crashes.

I too use a dj box, its a metal case that come in different sizes and can hold up to 1000 discs or more, that a dj would use for there cd collection on the road. wink.gif

I also have a epsom printer so i can print the discs cos i think they look better and i do covers etc for the odd film i do for my mum or friends. a013.gif

I still burn many films even tho i have a media reciever cos i still struggle with space and i have 560 gig of hdd. I have 60 gig of music biggrin.gif .

Nice guide btw good.gif

Good write kj, but be careful of the stickon labels, they tend to
get stuck in a lot of the new CD players and changers.
kingjames488
lol, i thought that might happen, another reason why I don't use them...
how can labels be done on the CD that look nice and are player safe??
preferably cheep.
Teebs
Well they're not necessarily cheap but for a huge pro job, get lightscribe, i got given a disc to burn a film with menues and the whole shebang for a friend's birthday. I don't use a DJ box but when i burn dvds that aren't family friendly (ie my parents wouldn't approve of) i whack em in a big cd holder thing.
kingjames488
what's lightscribe??
EmoKidsRule
correct me if im wrong but....its when your cd burner also burns on an image on the cd itself, it requires a special type of cd though otherwise ur pic will come out funny/ ruin disc. i don't think it can do colors, only colors of the cd you put in.

I wouldn't use itunes if my life depended on it.

Well, that's pretty obvious.

How much space would I need to store 1150 DVD cases? This is the most inefficient possible way of storing your movie collection.

If you've got time to fart around with that sort of thing. I don't.

Do NOT stick ANY sort of label/sticker on any disk. One of 2 things will happen:
1) The sticker will peel partly or completely off, making a mess of the drive.
2) The disk will become unbalanced and can (a) shatter, ruining the drive or (b) ruin the bearings of the spindle motor, giving it a permanent wobble.

This applies especially to 52x CD burners, as the disk spins at around 11,000 RPM, just below the safety threshold for a normal, balanced, unstickered disk.
