I took the week off to go to my favourite east coast beaches at Scarborough and have whittled down 10GB of photos to the following:
North Shore
early in the morning

everybody's gone surfing
South Shore
arcades

lighthouse

the harbour

the harbour close up
Peaseholm Park

Scarborough Castle
castle gate

The great keep

inside the great keep

the castle gate from top of the curtain wall
Scarborough Castle stands on a massive promontory of rock that rises sheer-sided high above the North Sea. The great keep was built by Henry II, 1159-69, and it stood until the west wall collapsed after bombardment during the English Civil War siege of 1645.
The SeaLife Centre

the tunnel

moon jellyfish

Thanks Chaos...appreciated
found a few more
Miscellaneous
Rotunda Museum of Geology

the Black Pearl me hearties arrrgh...no Johnny Depp though

Dr Who dropped in...last seen eating fish and chips on the promenade

St Mary's Church where Anne Brontė is buried.
The Central Tower and the Chancel were destroyed by artillery during the Civil War when the Parliamentarians used the Church for their batteries to attack the Royalist held Castle. The existing tower was rebuilt in 1670 and the extent of the original Chancel is marked by masonry.
I also went to see the BTEC art exhibition at the Art gallery...those kids are talented...great work

and managed to fit in a couple of glasses of wine here and there

Thanks everyone

I really did enjoy myself and had so much to pack into the time that I hardly slept.
@ danwel...I went before the season really started. I expect the park won't be as clean and free from litter etc when all the hordes of kids descend on it.
I've only been to Whitby once when I was younger and I daren't sleep in case Dracula got me

Now that I'm older, Whitby's seafaring and whaling heritage would be really interesting to me.
I think my favourite photo is of the great keep.

thanks for the tip fae
and it was just my opinion about whitby but the amount of litter would make the environmentalists have a field day, apart from that its still a beautiful place

Fae,
Each of the pictures really intrigue me, As they tell a story to me of the location history, and how they smartly kept the architecture and land close to the original.
Indeed these are images one must see in person. Thank you for the virtual pleasance, and even more importantly you enjoyed yourself on a long needed holiday

Nice photos.
It's been a while since I last saw Scarborough, the Sealife Centre is a new addition. The beaches don't look too popular.
The park photos were great, it has a refreshing kinda Tibetan kinda look about it.

Thanks Badog
no...I think it was the 6am and 11pm that wasn't popular on the beaches

they were more populated in the afternoon, although, I went before schools were on holiday so Scarborough was fairly empty.

Axxos post -
Beach near the green i always luv it
I had never been there, nice place.
Thanks for the shots.
"Had never been there" - suggesting 'until you put up the pics and i am soooo there!' Who needs to leave the room? All you need is an imagination!
tsk .. that sounds a little John lennonish - All you need is Love..... Pass it round! The love that is, not your imagination and definitely not swine flu, we can do without that being passed around.
lol. rant rant rant

Fae - Nice photos of Scarborough. I have been on the Black Pearl and can vouch that there is no Johnny Depp
Scarborough is a great place to visit and photograph because there are lots of different and interesting places to see which change with the season and time of day.
Glad you enjoyed your week away on the sunny costa east coast
