Hi everyone, I have an .avi file that has dual (eng. & span.) audio tracks and I wish to delete the spanish one. I have heard that one can use virtualdub to do this so I dl'd it and ran it in parallels, but it won't let me even open the file--most likely b/c it senses my noob fear. Can anyone help me w/ this? I would love to be able to find a mac based solution as parallels runs so damn slow on my iMac and everytime I open it I am immediately barraged w/ credit card offers, and "Hot Russian Girls Who Want to Marry American Men". Plz help! Thanks!

I've never done it, but this is supposed to work:

avidemux

If you have a dual audio AVI, you can use avidemux. Open your file, let it make a VBR map/unpack bitstream if necessary, go to Audio in the tool bar at the top, select the audio stream you want (use VLC to determine which if you're unsure) and then save the file.

I don't have a dual audio file to hand to confirm but I'm pretty certain this was the method I used to whack an unwanted German stream once.

Groon, I think this may work, but avidemux is constantly crashing so I am going to try the other link. I did manage to get the file saved once, but it was just a text file. I then added the .avi ext on but quicktime said it wasn't a movie file. Just to be clear--am supposed to save it under the "audio" tab or under the "file" tab? This all would be moot, but the only place I can find the movie *anywhere* is as a dual language file. Any ideas?

Like I said, I've never done it, but why can't you leave the 2nd audio track where it is and just don't play it?

I have a number of .avi's with dual audio, and unless I change audio tracks, I'd never even know they were there. I just ignore them.

I would generally do exactly that, however, this particluar beast isn't the kind w/ a separate .srt file. It reads as just 1 .avi--the only way you know that it's dual audio is that the torrent says so. Oh yeah, and Peter Falk speaks nothing but spanish--and really bad acting spanish at that. So..I have to remove "la pista de espanol" to hear him actually deliver dialog. I think I may have the right tools for the job (even avidemux if I can keep it from crashing) I just am apparently too f*****g stupid to figure them out!

I understand they're not .srt files. Those aren't audio. I believe VLC media Player will allow you to chose which audio track you want to listen to.

I play them back on a stand-alone divx-capable DVD player and there's a button on the remote that lets me choose the audio track.

If it really IS dual-audio, you should have a choice.

Maybe the avidemux crashes are related to an extension. Try booting into "Safe" mode by holding down the "S" key while you boot, and see if it works then.
